In winter, rolls should be held in a warm room at least a day before the material is completely heated. This will lead to the cracking of the bituminous layer and the weakening of the waterproofing properties.

Now consider the sequence of work in more detail. For quality installation, the following tools will be needed: a propane burner or a blowtorch, a primer, a trowel, a roofing knife, a mop for roofing work.

If the laying of glass is made on a layer of the old roof, then it must be cleaned of dust, debris and, if necessary, repaired and aligned. If the glass is insulated on a concrete surface, it is necessary to pre-treat the surface with primer solution using a roofing mop. Then the roll of glass is unfolded and tried on. For the cutting of the canvas, a roofing knife is used.

The next stage is heating and gluing the canvas to the base with a gas burner. First glue the edge of the roll, and then, holding the burner at a distance of 15-20 centimeters from the canvas, conduct the warming of the bitumen and the base of the roof. In this case, the roll is gradually unwound and pressed against the base. Observing an overlap of 10 centimeters is very important for creating a high-quality roof, so you should pay attention to it.

After the end of all the above-described work, it is necessary to warm up each joint once again and test for tightness with a trowel.

Use of glass in winter

How to cover the roof of the garage with a glass insulator in the cold season? It is necessary to take into account some mandatory working conditions in such conditions. Can I use a glass isole in winter?

The feedback from experts suggests an unconditional possibility of working with this material even in the cold season without losing quality. Glass-insulator can be used at negative temperatures, but all manipulations are recommended to be carried out under a stream of air heated by a heat gun.

To create a warm, not leaking roof of the garage, it is necessary to take care of the device of the heat-insulating layer between the beams of the trolley and the roofing carpet made of glass. As a heater can be used mineral wool or polystyrene plates. When using any insulation, leave a ventilation gap between it and the glass. This will prevent the accumulation of moisture under the roof layers.
