Gardnerella in women: the causes of the disease

Imbalance of the microflora of the vagina provokes such a disease as a gardnerella in women. The reasons for this are a lack of lactobacilli, which are the main constituents of the normal flora of the female vagina.

Gardnerellez or bacterial vaginosis - a very frequent gynecological disease. When the gardnerelles were identified for the first time, they were declared a new type of disease transmitted only through sexual contact. But a little later it turned out that the minimum amount of these pathogens is initially present in the female microflora.

Formation of the disease

Normally, gardnerella are found in any healthy woman. But the proliferation of this bacterium is actively hampered by lactobacilli, which support the acidic internal environment of the vagina, thanks to the lactic acid produced by them. It is the lactoflora that takes on the local immune and protective functions, suppressing the growth of the number of bacteria such as the Gardnerella in women.

The causes of the onset of the disease lie in the fact that, due to certain circumstances, the number of lactobacilli is significantly reduced, and at this moment a sharp growth of anaerobic bacteria occurs. The vaginal environment becomes alkaline, and this contributes to the penetration of new infections. That is why gardnerellez is usually complicated by inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system in women.

Signs of gardnerella in women

The disease is practically asymptomatic. The only bright sign of the presence of this infection is very strong vaginal discharge, usually Grayish-white or yellow, having a very sharp smell of spoiled fish.

Quite often gardnerellez is complicated by vaginitis. Then the woman, in addition to abundant secretions, there is a burning sensation and unpleasant itching in the vagina, intensifying with urination and sexual intercourse.

The change in the sexual partner can cause an increase in the natural number of a microorganism, like the Gardnerella in women. The reasons for the growth of these bacteria are sometimes concealed in the use of contraceptives, including 9-nonoxynol. All this can provoke a decrease in the amount of lactobacillus and, accordingly, an increase in the opportunistic pathogen flora.

Treatment of the disease

If after the carried out analyzes the pathogenic growth of the bacteria of the gardnerella was revealed in women, what to treat is quite a legitimate question. The methods of modern therapy, used in gynecology, allow full recovery. But, unfortunately, there is no guarantee of absence of potential relapses of the present disease.

Treatment takes place in two stages. On the first patient receives drugs designed to eliminate manifestations and causes of the disease. Usually, the following drugs are prescribed: "Dalacin" (capsules or cream) intravaginally and tablets "Metronidazole". To prevent the development of thrush, cream "Clotrimazole" is prescribed in parallel.

At the second stage of treatment it is required to restore the natural microflora. To do this, take the drug "Bifidumbacterin", Atsilak "and immunostimulating drugs.

The main causes of the disease

The main reasons for the formation of bacterial vaginosis can be classified as:

  • Frequent changes in sexual partners;
  • Insufficient intimate hygiene during menstruation;
  • Hormonal failures of the body during puberty and / or during pregnancy;
  • The wearing of linen from "non-breathing" synthetic materials;
  • Long-term use of antibacterial agents;
  • Intestinal dysbiosis;
  • Decreased immunity.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, using a condom with unplanned sexual intercourse, a constant sexual partner - all this can prevent the occurrence of such an unpleasant disease caused by the bacterium Gardnerella in women. The causes of the onset of this illness can be simply ruled out if the relevant rules are followed.
