Fungus in the groin Or inguinal dermatomycosis is a common fungal disease. In the people it is called "jockey itch".

Causes:

The cause of the disease is the fungus. In most cases, it spreads to the surface of the skin. Quite often fungus in the groin is observed in athletes. General locker rooms, public showers with wet towels, raw clothes increase the risk of infection.

Infect mainly people living in areas with warm climate and high humidity. It is this environment is favorable for the development of fungus. On the human body, the most suitable conditions for its vital activity are formed on the gluteal folds, on the inner thighs and in the genital area. The risk of infection in men is much higher than that of women. This depends on the anatomical features of the areas that are a favorable zone for the development of fungal infection.

In some cases, the disease can occur simultaneously with a fungal infection on the legs (epidermophytia of the foot). If, in the presence of epidermophytosis, a fungus is found in the groin, treatment should be directed simultaneously to both areas of the lesion.

Fungus in the groin is contagious. It is transmitted by direct contact with a sick person or through contaminated household items and personal hygiene products.

Symptoms:

The symptoms by which the presence of the disease can be determined are as follows:

- itching and burning in the groin area, pain is possible (sometimes the lesion can spread to the anal areas and genitals);

- Presence of a relief rash of bright red or brown with raised edges and clear boundaries;

- redness in the groin area, sometimes with the presence of vesicles;

- peeling, as well as exfoliation and cracking of the affected skin.

Diagnostics:

More often the diagnosis of the presence of the disease is based on the characteristic external signs. In some cases, a microbiological analysis is made to scrape the skin.

Than to treat a fungus in an inguen?

You can treat inguinal dermatomycosis yourself. Usually it is enough to use antifungal drugs, which can be purchased in a regular pharmacy without prescription. Apply mainly ointments that have in the composition of such antifungal drugs as terbinafine, clotrimazole, miconazole.

In other cases (in the presence of bubbles), compresses are prescribed using Burov's liquid. The course of treatment is usually up to two weeks. During treatment, several recommendations should be observed:

1. Before applying the ointment, should be thoroughly washed with soap and the lesion adjacent to it healthy areas.

2. Before applying the ointment, you should carefully read the existing instructions for use and strictly follow it.

3. If there are no improvements after two weeks of self-treatment, you should immediately contact a dermatologist.

4. During the treatment it is necessary to use clean bed linen and underwear, clothes daily.

5. It is necessary to simultaneously treat all affected areas to prevent the transmission of infection.

Prevention:

Fungus in the groin can be prevented by following several rules of personal hygiene:

- Every day, care should be taken to ensure that all vulnerabilities are dry and clean;

- after physical exertion should take a shower with the use of soap, after the shower must be carefully wiped with a clean and dry towel;

- after taking a shower, you must first wipe the body, and then the legs;

- in public places (locker room, bathhouse, shower and others) you need to wear slippers;

- Keep clothes clean, after attending sports sections, it is necessary to wash clothes, a sports suit, a towel.
