Flange caps: scope and design features

Flanged caps - structural elements, intended mainly to cover all possible end-holes of pipeline systems and lines. They are also often used to seal those branches, in which any need has ceased to exist. Flanged caps are the main structural element for ensuring the safety and reliability of the operation of pipeline lines of any type.

At the moment there are many varieties and modifications of this end piece, each of which is different in form, material, method of attachment and structural features. Flange caps are usually installed on the desired outlet of the pipeline with threaded connections. The main feature of such products is that there are no holes directly in the central part of their body.

Flanges for pipelines in their structural structure differ little from similar products used in other industrial and economic spheres. Blanks of this type are made mainly by hot stamping or by cutting out from solid sheets of steel alloys. This technological approach results in the absence of any joints or moving parts, which only adds reliability, durability and safety to the product.

Flanged caps are most often used on pipelines of the chemical, gas, oil industries, as well as on other lines of increased environmental danger. Such parts, manufactured with observance of all technological norms and correctly installed, are designed for pressure from 6 to 160 kg / cm 2 . But in practice they are able to withstand more, as the producers put in them a certain reserve and margin of safety.

As for the temperature range and climatic conditions, the steel stopper of this type demonstrates excellent functionality and durability ranging from minus seventy to plus six hundred degrees Celsius, and also in conditions of high humidity or, on the contrary, high air dryness. Depending on the design features and the type of sealing joint, four types of these products are distinguished: with a protrusion, a depression, studded and for pipelines of an oval section.

Such plugs have an extremely high resistance to the destructive effects of all kinds of chemically aggressive media. That is why they are intended mainly for use in the toxic extreme conditions of the chemical industry. With the help of them, it is possible to carry out a short-term or permanent conservation of flows in the end zones of pipelines and to be sure of the safety of the line, for whatever reasons taken out of service. It is also quite appropriate to use these products to produce all kinds of tanks and tanks of industrial scale and purpose.
