Dimexide. Instructions

The drug "Dimexide" refers to the tools that can provide local anesthetic effect, eliminate inflammation and disastrously affect pathogenic microorganisms. Medication also has an effect on the microflora, resistant to antibiotics, changing its sensitivity.

The drug "Dimexid", the instruction informs, has the following indications for use:

- Therapy of rheumatoid arthritis, Bechterew's disease, deforming osteoratrosis, artopathy, sprains and other violations of the musculoskeletal system of an inflammatory nature.

- Treatment of bruises, traumatic infiltrates, edema, purulent wounds, abscesses, chronic and acute osteomyelitis, streptoderma and nodal erythema.

The medicine "Dimexide" is a composition. In one vial of medicine contains fifty or one hundred milliliters of dimethylsulfoxide (depending on the volume of the container).

The pharmaceutical agent in question is generally used in the form of an aqueous solution (thirty or fifty percent) for applying compresses or introducing tampons.

The dressing impregnated with the drug is applied to the problem areas, while capturing healthy areas of the skin. To treat erysipelas and ulcers (trophic), this remedy is used in the form of an aqueous solution several times during the day.

In the therapeutic procedures aimed at eliminating eczema, the "Dimexide" preparation instruction is recommended for use as compresses impregnated with a 40-90% solution.

To provide local anesthetic action, a 25-50% solution of the drug is recommended. Use it should be two or three times a day (a compress is applied).

Also, the drug is widely used in the postoperative period in purulent complications triggered by Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Staphylococcus aureus. In this case, the medicine is applied to infiltrates and injured wounds.

The drug "Dimexide", the instruction says, can cause some side effects. Among them: itching, erythema, dizziness, sleep disturbance, diarrhea, dermatitis, adynamia. In rare cases (with individual intolerance of the components of the drug), one can face bronchospasm, nausea, vomiting.

The drug "Dimexide" - contraindications: severe atherosclerosis and cardiovascular insufficiency, violations of the liver and kidneys, stenocardia, stroke, coma, pregnancy, breast-feeding, cataracts, glaucoma, age less than twelve years. In addition, this medication is given with special care to patients older than sixty.

It should be taken into account that the drug "Dimexide" enhances the effect of ethanol (when taking alcoholic beverages, the rate of excretion of the drug is reduced). This drug also increases the effects of insulin, acetylsalicylic acid and medicines such as Butadion, Quinidine, Nitroglycerin, Monomycin, Streptomycin.

Dimexide is not forbidden to use in parallel with antibacterial and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as with the drug Heparin (in the treatment of thrombophlebitis).

Symptoms of an overdose of this pharmaceutical remedy are urticaria, pruritus, edema. In the above cases, the drug should be discontinued and the affected areas thoroughly rinsed.

It is undesirable to allow drug contact with mucous membranes and eyes. If this happens, you should wash these areas with clean running water at room temperature.

Shelf life of the drug is two years. It is not recommended to use the drug after the date indicated on the original packaging.

For the purchase of "Dimexid" medication, the doctor's prescription is not required.
