Diet for varicose veins: what can you eat?

Every fourth woman and every tenth man are faced with a feeling of heaviness in the legs, edemas, burning sensation and widening of the calf veins. All these are symptoms of developing venous insufficiency, a serious disease that is dangerous for its complications. What should be diet and nutrition for varicose veins to avoid serious consequences?

A little about the disease

Veins, vessels carrying blood to the heart muscle, are equipped with special valves, which allow transporting the liquid in all directions, including vertically upward. After the discharge of blood, they, like a small gate, firmly close their doors, not allowing the blood flow again to rush down. But, being in a spasm condition, the valves become untenable, and some of the blood freely penetrates back, expanding the veins and creating a weight in the lower limbs.

The beginning of the disease is indicated by vascular sprouts on the legs, since small vessels under the skin begin to suffer the first, there are noticeable tubercles and, finally, pain and edema that cause suffering to a person. The diet for varicose veins of the lower extremities is not capable of completely eliminating the problem, but in combination with wearing compression linen, daily gymnastics for feet and foot baths can significantly improve the condition, eliminating the danger of complications. The most serious of them are phlebitis (inflammation of the veins), the formation of ulcers on the skin and the appearance of blood clots - blood clots, a deadly disease.

The main causes of the disease

Genetic predisposition is one of the main causes of varicose veins. Women are more vulnerable to it. This is due to improperly selected hormonal contraception and pregnancy. With her, pressure is created on the pelvic organs, in which varicose veins can also develop. A sedentary lifestyle, finding a long time in a static vertical position, excessive weight creates an increased pressure on the veins of the legs, provoking the disease.

In the risk group, elderly people with constipation, workers lifting heavy loads, as well as people with chronic diseases, associated with frequent sneezing and a prolonged cough. A person with a predisposition already has a diet for varicose veins to minimize the risk of developing the disease.

What should be excluded from the diet?

Based on the known causes of the disease, the following products should be excluded from use:

  • Conducive to thickening of the blood;
  • Causing weakening of intestinal peristalsis and leading to constipation;
  • Affecting weight gain;
  • Leading to thinning of the veins.

In the list of unwanted dishes, fatty meat and fish varieties and strong, rich broths of them, smoked and canned foods, spicy, sweet and salty foods, alcohol, carbonated drinks, coffee and whole milk. Diet with varicose requires the refusal to use products made from flour of the highest grade, jelly, stew and marinades. Food from a series of semi-finished products, fast food and other fast food dishes, products with dyes, GMOs and everything containing the "E" coding, should be categorically excluded from the menu.

Calorie restriction

People with excess weight need to control the consumption of calories, remembering that a decrease in body weight of even 10% can lead to a significant improvement in the condition. To spend more calories than taking with food, you need:

  • Reduce the diet;
  • Use low-calorie foods ;
  • Increase physical exercise.

Reducing the calorie content of food by 900 kcal per day can lead to a reduction in weight by 500 g per week. Starve and leave the body without the necessary vitamins and minerals can not. This will lead to a decrease in the level of hormones, slowing metabolism and destroying muscle tissue. A diet with varicose veins requires a five-time full-fledged diet, which excludes snacks using flour products and sugary drinks, consuming a day of water (up to 2 liters) between meals and a variety of multivitamins and fiber-rich menus.

Importance of Vitamin C

Vitamin C provides the synthesis of elastin and collagen necessary for good veins, and also improves blood circulation. Its effect is enhanced by interaction with vitamin E. Deficiency of foods saturated with these vitamins leads to an aggravation of lower limb disease. Diet for varicose must include fruits such as avocados, which in addition to the necessary elixir of life is glutathione, a substance that protects the cardiovascular system.

A large amount of vitamin C is found in Bulgarian pepper, Brussels sprouts, dill, celery. Vegetables should be eaten with vegetable oil. The leader in the content of vitamin C is a dogrose, the broth from which you can drink before breakfast, which will promote a good metabolism. Oranges and lemons, strawberries and raspberries are desirable on the dining table of each person at risk for the disease.

The use of fiber

A feature of cellulose is the lack of nutritional value with great importance for the digestive system. Conditionally it can be divided into two types: soluble and insoluble. The difference is that the first when combined with water turns into a gel-like mass, and the second is not subject to any changes when passing through the digestive tract. Soluble fiber is indispensable in the fight against constipation, as it changes the consistency of stool. The diet for varicose veins should include foods rich in fiber.

The best representatives of soluble fiber - beans, apples, pears, flax seeds, oats and carrots. Do not underestimate the role of insoluble fiber (greens, nuts, seeds and husk husks). It, like a sponge, absorbs and retains toxins, removing them from the body, helping to cleanse the intestines.

The need for bioflavonoids

The substances produced by plants that promote the absorption of vitamin C, often called vitamin C2. These are bioflavonoids, of which rutin, quercetin, hesperidin and catechin are well studied. They can strengthen the walls of capillaries, prevent bleeding, improve blood circulation in the heart muscle, perfectly relax both blood vessels and digestive ducts. Unique substances come out of the body with urine and then, without oversaturating it. Eating foods rich in flavonoids is part of a comprehensive treatment for varicose veins.

The diet includes citrus fruits, buckwheat, apple skins, in which there are necessary routines and gespedin. Onions, green tea, dark grapes, red wine and St. John's wort contain quercetin, the strongest antioxidant, capable of neutralizing intestinal toxins. Green tea, along with apples, grapes and berries, also includes catechin, which strengthens the walls of the vessels of the capillaries.

Important products for the prevention of varicose veins

Of berries one of the best products is blueberries. Being a source of vitamins C and E, in addition it includes collagen and anthocyanidin, which helps to restore proteins forming the walls of blood vessels. In addition, blueberries are a supplier of soluble and insoluble fiber, which makes it indispensable in the menu. As a seasoning for various dishes, a diet with varicose veins should include rosemary, which improves blood circulation. It contains ursolic acid, which can strengthen capillaries.

With the defeat of veins, the body can not cope with the dissolution of fibrin. This makes them painful and dense. There is a plant that can help vessels, improving their circulation is ginger. It is called superfood in its healing properties. As for its ecological compatibility, asparagus is allocated, which protects the vessels from ruptures. It is undeservedly not among the most used products, which is unfair. More popular beets reduce the level of homocysteine in the blood, which can damage the walls of blood vessels.

Diet with varicose veins and thrombophlebitis

In the case of severe disease and the occurrence of complications in the form of thrombophlebitis, nutrition must be treated with special care, respecting its regimen and eliminating unwanted products. An example menu might look like this:
