D-Link DIR-320 router settings. Instructions, password, connection
In this short article, the configuration of the D-Link DIR-320 router will be described in detail. This network device is perfect for creating a local computer network at home or in a small office. And with its help you can realize both wireless connection of devices, and using twisted pair. In the latter case, there is a restriction: there are only 4 ports, so many devices can be connected.
Equipment
The next bundle boasts D-Link DIR-320:
user's manual;
Router;
Power supply unit with a non-detachable cord and plug;
Meter twisted pair, crimped at both ends with appropriate tips;
Drive with drivers and an electronic version of the documentation on the router.
Appearance and purpose of the connection elements, indication and control
On the front of the device an information panel is displayed, which consists of the following LED indicators:
Power: during operation it lights continuously and indicates that the device is turned on.
Status: during normal operation of the router, it constantly flashes. If it is lit continuously, an error has occurred and the device needs to be restarted.
Internet: can simply be continuously lit (if there is a connection, but if there is no data exchange) or flashing (if there is a connection and information transmission).
The next 4 ports are tied to wired. If there is a connection, they glow continuously, and when the data is exchanged, they flash. If the port is not used during operation, the corresponding indicator is disabled.
The last LED is attached to the printer. It simply lights up continuously when the printer is connected, but flashes while the document is being output.
On the back of the device are the following communication and control elements:
Antenna for wireless connection;
USB port for printer connection;
4 LAN ports for creating a wired LAN part;
Input port for connecting a twisted pair from the provider;
Power supply socket;
Reset button to reboot the router.
Selecting the location of the network device
At the first stage, we choose the right place for installing a network device. And here everything is not so simple as it seems at first glance. On the one hand, all the wires should approach the installation site of the router, there should be a power outlet nearby. On the other hand, it is most correct to place the router in the center of the room: this will ensure an excellent data transmission and reception speed, a high level of the signal "Wai-Fay". The router also can not be located near the metal sheets, which can extinguish the wireless network signal. Based on the recommendations given above, you need to choose the location of the router.
The configuration sequence of the D-Link DIR-320 router
The order of this network device model is as follows:
We collect a temporary schema for the initial setup;
Turn on the device and set it up properly;
Dismantling the time scheme;
We install the router on a permanent location;
We collect a permanent scheme of the local computer network;
Turn on the router;
We test the correctness of the settings in the wired network segment;
We check the efficiency of the wireless network "Wai-Fay".
The router can also be configured on a permanent location, provided that it is permanently connected to the computer in a wired manner. Since this condition can not always be fulfilled, it is recommended to make the setting in 2 stages.
Temporary connection for configuration
The next step in configuring the D-Link DIR-320 router is to collect a time diagram for configuring the network device. To do this, install it next to a PC or laptop. A complete compressed twisted pair is used to connect the computer and the router. One end of it is installed in the port of the network card of the PC, and the second one is installed in any of the 4-wire ports of the router (but not the one intended for data exchange with the equipment of the provider). The power supply is installed in any nearby free outlet, and the cord from it to the power socket of the router. The time schedule is ready.
Set the parameters
Now you need to set the program settings of the D-Link DIR-320. To do this, we do the following:
Turn on the connected computer and the router;
We are waiting for the computer and network device to finish loading;
Run any of the available browsers on your PC;
In the address line of the browser, dial the combination of 192.168.000.001 (this is the network address of our router) and press Enter;
In response, you will be prompted with a login and, of course, a password. In the first field, enter admin. The second field on the first run is left empty. If this is not the first run, then enter the password in the second field that was previously set;
In the opened configuration interface of the router we select the item "Connection wizard";
Then set a new administrator password and confirm it, if necessary;
Then you need to specify the time zone and save the changes;
The next step is to configure the connection settings for the network equipment provider. These data are provided by the Internet service provider, they are usually specified in the contract. This includes the type of connection (for example, PPPoE or L2TP), the login and password for establishing the connection (if required), the network address is static or dynamic;
After making all the necessary settings, click the Connect button. Then the router will reboot;
After rebooting the router we go in the previously mentioned way in the setup menu and select the item "Wireless Network Setup Wizard";
Then set the name of the wireless network to your discretion;
Choose the encryption method. We recommend using the WPA2 method, which provides the best protection for the wireless network;
The next step is to set the wireless network password. Again, at its discretion;
We save the changes and forcibly restart the router.
The presetting is complete, you can turn off the computer and the network device and disassemble the timing diagram.
Install the router to a constant location and connect
Now we install the D-Link DIR-320 router to a constant place, which most optimally corresponds to the previously given conditions. We pull all wire communications here: a twisted pair from the provider and other devices that connect to the LAN in this way. In the "Internet" port we connect the incoming wire from the provider of Internet services. In the remaining 4 ports we connect the equipment that will use the wired connection. The power supply is installed in the socket, its cord to the socket of the router. After a complete collection of a permanent scheme and verifying the correctness of the connections, turn on the router.
Checking the wired LAN segment
After the D-Link DIR-320 NRU router boots up, you can test the wired LAN part. To do this, on any computer connected to the router using twisted pair, go to the network settings (Start \ Control Panel \ Network connections). Next, create a new connection and save it. We close all windows. Start any browser and enter any Internet address and press Enter. After that, the start page should open. If this does not happen, check the network connection settings , which must necessarily be configured to automatically obtain the network address.
We test the wireless part of the local area network
Next, you need to test the wireless WiFi connection. The D-Link DIR-320 router allows it to transmit information at speeds up to 54 Mbps. The order of connection in this case is:
The router must be turned on and in operating mode, not at the download stage.
On any mobile device, activate the Wi-Fi transmitter.
Go to the "Settings" devaysa, select WLAN and click on the "Search" button. Upon completion, a complete list of all available wireless LANs will appear.
We choose the network, the name of which was set at the configuration stage and connected to it. After the password prompt appears, enter it. It is important not to confuse the administrator password with D-Link DIR -320 And a password to access the wireless network. It is necessary to enter the second, and they must be different.
In the future, the color of the Wi-Fi indicator should change: it should appear two triangles.
Next, start the browser and just like in the previous case, we test the presence of the connection.
Summary
After the configuration of the D-Link DIR-320 router is completed, this network device will serve you more than one year. This operation, as a rule, has to be performed only at the first start of the equipment. In the future it functions with given values, and there should not be any problems with it.
