Cryotherapy of tonsils: indications and contraindications

For the treatment of those patients who suffer from chronic tonsillitis or tonsillitis, there are several ways of treatment: antibiotic therapy, cryotherapy of tonsils or surgical intervention. Not everyone will dare to lie under the surgeon's knife, so cryotherapy can be rightfully considered a sparing method of getting rid of inflamed tonsils.

Running in a circle ...

As a rule, in patients with chronic inflammation of the tonsils, or tonsillitis, the following symptoms are observed: persistent sore throat, fever, weakening of immunity, weakness.

It all looks a bit different when a person has to take a course of antibiotic therapy several times a year in order to ease his condition for a while. Because of taking such drugs, the patient's immune system is severely weakened, which triggers an exacerbation of chronic angina.

Therefore, recently, doctors began to recommend their patients to remove tonsils. However, many scientists disagree with this decision. Normally, such accumulations of lymphoid tissue are responsible for the production of antibodies and a normal immune response of the organism in response to external stimuli. To date, cryotherapy of the tonsils is the safest way to prevent the development of tonsillitis.

Cryotherapy of glands: the essence of the method

Many patients still do not know that, in addition to the usual conservative or surgical treatment, the tonsils can be cured without blood and painlessly. Cryotherapy of the tonsils - what is it? This method consists in that the patient is cauterized with liquid nitrogen with diseased tissue, while healthy areas are not affected.

The advantages of the method

For patients with chronic tonsillitis, or tonsillitis, cryotherapy of the tonsils is the most appropriate way to get rid of diseases. The main advantages of this method are as follows:

  • Rapidity. The whole procedure of recovery, including a primary examination of the patient, takes no more than 30 minutes. Removal of glands is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient does not experience any complications after using anesthesia.

  • Lack of pain and blood. After exposure to liquid nitrogen on the surface of the tonsils, scars and scars are not formed, so the person practically does not experience pain and can return to the usual lifestyle immediately after the cryotherapy of the tonsils. The patients' comments say that in memory of the procedure there is only a numbness in the throat and a slight dryness in the mouth, but these signs soon pass without a trace.
  • Efficiency. Frosting of affected tissues is a very effective procedure, because due to liquid nitrogen, the affected tissues die off, and healthy ones start to work at twice the rate.

Treatment of tonsils with cold

Before the cryodestruction (burning with liquid nitrogen) tonsils of the mouth cavity of the patient, it is necessary to carefully examine and cure all the inflammatory processes of the mouth and teeth.

Cryotherapy of the tonsils is carried out as follows:

  • The patient does not need to take a reclining position, so during the procedure the patient sits on the chair.
  • Before cauterizing the tonsils with liquid nitrogen, the patient's throat is treated with 1% lidocaine solution. After anesthetizing the throat, the doctor will be able to begin such a procedure as cryotherapy of the tonsils. The patients' comments indicate that in addition to lidocaine, atropine is still being injected into the oral cavity, so there is no gag reflex during freezing.

  • After preparing the cryodestructor (medical device for freezing), the doctor briefly applies its working surface to the diseased tissue. The entire procedure of freezing lasts no more than 60 seconds, however even in this short period of time sick tonsil tissues die off. This is the cryotherapy of the tonsils.
  • The doctors say that this technique is most favorable for the whole organism as a whole, after 24 hours after the freezing, the patient ceases to experience uncomfortable sensations in the throat. In the photo, which are presented in the article, tonsils are visible before and after the procedure.

Cryodestruction of the glands: indications for the procedure

Cryotherapy of tonsils is necessary in the following cases:

  • Tonsillogenic cardiopathy. Often, patients with chronic tonsillitis can have problems with the functioning of the heart muscle, so moxibustion is a necessity.
  • Frequent sore throats. If a person is sick 2 times a year and more, then without cryotherapy of the tonsils he just can not do.

  • Chronic tonsillitis. Constant inflammation of the tonsils leads to the fact that the human immune system stops working properly and does not protect the body. Thanks to cryotherapy, the human body not only destroys the affected tissue, but also activates healthy tonsil cells, resulting in increased immunity.
  • Tonsillogenic intoxication. In the chronic course of the disease in humans, not only the immune, but also the protective functions of the tonsils are violated, which in turn leads to intoxication of the body.

It is worth noting that in all these cases, antibiotic therapy is becoming an ineffective method of treatment, and surgical intervention is too cardinal. That's why people began to go to clinics and carry out such procedure, as cryotherapy of tonsils.

Contraindications

Any treatment of the patient has not only his testimony, but also contraindications. In what situations is this procedure not carried out?

  • Oncological diseases.
  • Chronic diseases, which are in the stage of exacerbation.
  • Diabetes mellitus of any type.
  • Serious disorders of the nervous system, as well as CNS diseases.
  • Violations of the circulatory system, especially with regard to blood clotting.
  • Pathology of the cardiovascular system.

In addition, this procedure is not recommended for children under 12 years. For younger patients, experts advise special freezing of tonsils - cryo-irrigation with liquid nitrogen vapor, which allows achieving the same results as cryotherapy of tonsils. Indications and contraindications for this procedure are the same.

What the patient gets in the end

With a short-term exposure to cold on the inflamed areas of the tonsils, the pathologically altered tissue dies completely, which leads to the restoration of the glands. Under the influence of low temperatures, the inflamed areas of a person not only remove all damaged tissue, but also regenerate the cells, which ultimately leads to a complete restoration of the protective and immune functions of the tonsils.

Cryotherapy is a method of treatment that allows a patient to avoid a surgical operation, permanently get rid of chronic tonsillitis and cure sick tonsils.
