Cosmee - flowers for any garden

This one-year plant has been popular for many decades not only all over the world, but also among Russian gardeners. Call it a shaggy. Flowers of this unpretentious plant are decorated with a huge number of household plots. Its name is derived from the Greek word cosmos, which can be translated as "decoration". Cosmee - flowers of the family of astroves. They can be grown in a one-year and perennial culture. This flower looks great on flowerbeds, lawns and green lawns.

Homeland of Cosmos, whose flowers amaze with a variety of shapes and colors, is South America. There are 20 species of this plant. Despite its origin in warm climatic conditions, this flower grows remarkably in virtually all regions of Russia, from the north to the middle belt and the southern regions. For cutting, this flower is practically not used, because it quickly fades.

Most often there are two types of cosmece: double-birch and sulfur-yellow. The first reaches 1.2 m in height. It forms powerful bushes with high, highly branched stems. The double-faced Cosmia, whose flowers in diameter reach 10 cm, is often painted in pink, white or red shade. Tiger flowers have a variety of colors, and tubular flowers are bright yellow. Another kind of kosmei is short (up to 75 cm) and thermophilic and has wider leaves. And its reed flowers can be orange or red in color. The diameter of the flowers reaches 3-6 cm. In appearance, most of the varieties of cosme are reminiscent of chamomile. Breeders also brought out other flowers - terry-touching, which looks great on any flowerbed.

This plant blooms in June-July and blossoms until the onset of the first frost. Kosmeya - flowers that can withstand short-term droughts. It differs in its cold resistance. Plant this flower in well-lit areas, protected from strong wind. When planting in the penumbra, the Cosmia does not bloom well, but there will be much more leaves on it than in the sun. This plant is unpretentious, it is not exacting to soils. It grows best on loose, well drained soils that do not have a high nutritional content. The plant likes moisture, so it needs regular watering.

Cosmee - flowers that multiply seeds. They can be purchased at a store or asked from neighbors who grow this plant. Germination of seeds lasts 3-4 years. The cosmos flower, the photos of which are presented on this page, can be grown in two ways: seedling and uncultivated. In the first case, the seeds are sown in March on the surface of the substrate and slightly pressed down. The crops are moistened and covered with a film. You can grow this plant and sow seeds in the open ground. At a temperature of 16-18 ° C shoots will appear in 1-2 weeks. Seedlings in 8-10 cm are planted on flowerbeds according to the scheme of 30x40 cm. When sowing in open ground in May, the plant should be decontaminated at an interval of 20-25 cm (depending on the variety of cosme).

Care of this flower is to weed, watering, loosening the soil. Top dressing is done only when the cosmea grows on poor soil, before budding and at the very beginning of flowering. Tall grades require a garter to support, as their fragile stalks can be broken by the wind. In autumn the stems of the plant are cut off at the very ground. Circumcision of wilted flowers stimulates abundant flowering.
