Compaction in the mammary gland when feeding: mummies, be careful

Currently, pediatricians recommend breastfeeding babies on demand, and not by the hour, as it was before. That is, the child should eat as much as he likes.

Every woman sooner or later learns the joy of motherhood, however, in addition to positive moments, there may appear some nuances with health that can be avoided by knowing in advance about the possibility of their occurrence. So, there may appear a tightening in the mammary gland during feeding. This problem occurs in almost all nursing mothers. This appears due to certain reasons, and almost all women.

The causes of compaction in the mammary gland during feeding can be different:

  1. Infection (abscess).
  2. Blockage of the milk ducts (lactostasis).
  3. Inflammatory process of a general nature (mastitis).

It should be noted that sometimes during the pressure on the tubercle, the temperature rises and pains appear. In such a situation, it is necessary to run to the doctor immediately. The fact that self-medication can lead to aggravation of the disease and to the loss of milk in general.

Compaction in the mammary gland during feeding, as mentioned above, may be a sign of lactostasis, which develops as a result of blockage of the milk ducts. Milk begins to accumulate, because the breast is not emptied completely, so there is condensation. In order to determine whether this is lactostasis, it is necessary to measure body temperature in several places: under both armpits, in the groin and at the elbow. If it is the highest armpit, it is considered a sign of milk stagnation or uninfected mastitis.

Compaction in the mammary gland during feeding can become a sign of an infected mastitis - a disease that results from getting the infection from the outside. But even in this case, it is not necessary to wean the baby from the breast, unless only if there is an abscess.

In any case, a woman should apply if not to the gynecologist, then immediately to the surgeon, who will help determine the diagnosis and prescribe the treatment. Thus, it will be possible not only to eliminate the compaction in the mammary gland during feeding, but also to avoid the development of inflammation.

There are several factors when the presence of such a seal should be of particular concern:

  1. It is still and tight.
  2. Blood is extracted from the nipple.
  3. The shape of the nipple is unusual: it is retracted or tilted more than usual.
  4. Enlargement of lymph nodes.

If these signs are available, you need to undergo an examination for cancer.

Breast consolidation in women can occur not only with breastfeeding, but also under other circumstances. This can be a testimony:

  1. Cysts are a small cavity where fluid accumulates. To the touch, it has a smooth shape, firm consistency and mobility. If you press on it, you get pain.
  2. Mastopathy. Nodules in this case can be the size of a pea or even with a walnut. Sometimes with the disease may appear discharge from the chest. You should begin to worry if they become brown or with an admixture of blood.
  3. Thrombophlebitis. The wall of the vein becomes inflamed, resulting in a thrombus. Symptoms: redness in the place of formation, fever, chills.
