Classics of the genre: "Die Hard". Actors, embodied the idea of John McTiernan

A worthy American film "Strong nutlet" (actors: charming B. Willis, charismatic A. Rickman and recommended by the performer of the main male role - B. Bedelia) originally came out in Russia under a completely different stupid name and had a wild success, however, like in the world Hire. What is not surprising, the audience is invariably attracted by the unfolding unfolding plot action, the indescribable sharpness of collisions and spectacularly staged action scenes.

Christmas story from John McTiernan

The film was shot based on the work of Roderick Thorpe "Die Hard". Actors who participated in the filming of the film, declare the only difference: in the novel, the main protagonist saves the daughter, and in the film - the ex-spouse, but, as in the literary original, all the events unfold on the eve of Christmas. For the sake of justice it is worth noting that it is certainly impossible to call a movie a Christmas movie. The director John McTiernan managed to heat the atmosphere to the limit, the plot really captures, periodically amazing the viewer with amazing attractions.

Voltage goes high

Also, the director quite successfully and effectively uses in his movie elements of claustrophobia, which often appears in the office building, exacerbates the sense of anxiety scenes with the elevator shaft. After, like riding a roller coaster, changes the pace of the narrative, increasing the anticipation of the audience, using frenzied shootings and incredible stunt tricks. In modern cinema there are many pictures in which the screen action is not supported by the semantic load and the tension is completely absent. "Strong nutlet" (the actors of which are known and popular until now) almost thirty years ago managed to maximize the attention of the beholder on each episode, and this favorably distinguishes him from similar films in the genre of the action movie.

Description of the plot. Attention, contains spoilers

Just before Christmas, a policeman from New York, handsome man John McClane (Bruce Willis), intending to meet with his ex-wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia), arrives in Los Angeles. Holly, preferring a business career, some time ago left from the eternally busy husband with the children. Immediately upon arrival, John goes to his wife directly to work - in the building of an influential corporation, where a major deal is planned and the subsequent celebration. But an unexpectedly stormy gang of terrorists, equipped with the latest technology, bursts into the premises, making their adjustments to the company's plans. As it later turned out, the group pursued a completely different political goal, driven by a greed for profit. Further in the plot of the movie "Die Hard" (actors as one note this fact) comes a turning point. Terrorists miraculously forget about the presence of McClain, who, assessing the situation, manages to obtain a radio, eliminating one of the bandits. He is contacting the Los Angeles Police Department. Doubting the reliability of the information received, sergeant Al Powell (Reginald Veljonson) is sent to the scene of the alleged incident. John manages to give him a special sign, and the policeman causes reinforcements. The whole carefully planned operation goes awry, to all else in the fight alone enters McClane - a staunch policeman, a professional in his field.

The main antagonist

The main villain in the movie "Die Hard" (the actors of the entire film crew were surprised by the choice of the director) was Hans Gruber - a veteran German terrorist with experience, clever, lean, charismatic and merciless. The actor who embodied such a vivid character on the screen, before gliding in this project in his homeland in the UK, was shining in television and theater. Alan Rickman, who became the main antagonist of "Die Hard", received a carte blanche in Hollywood cinema with this role. Now he is one of the most authoritative, deepest, most demanded and most talented actors - the star of the world screen. But the director had to work hard, working with him, for example, not to show a close-up of the face of Hans, when he shoots someone. The fact is that Alan flinched every time from the sound of a shot, and this, of course, did not match the image of a ruthless and cruel villain. Scene meeting Gruber and McClain refused to pre-rehearse Bruce Willis, believing that the impromptu will have a more emotional impact on the viewer.

To be continued…

The wide recognition by the audience of the brainchild of John McTiernan provoked the release of a lot of similar stories, they naturally belonged to other authors, and their narrative was focused on other heroes, but the idea of a loner in the fight against everyone and against all long bore the minds of filmmakers. In addition to other films, there were four more continuation films: Die Hard 2, Die Hard 3: Retaliation, Die Hard 4.0 and Die Hard: A Good Day to Die.
