"Citramon": instructions for use

The trade mark "Citramon", known from the Soviet times, belonged to a combined medicinal product related to non-narcotic analgesics and affecting the central nervous system. One tablet contained 0.24 g of acetylsalicylic acid, 0.18 g of phenacetin, 0.03 g of caffeine, 0.015 g of cocoa, and 0.02 g of citric acid. Today several medications are united by the trade brand Citramon. The instruction attached to the medicine describes the form of release, the qualitative and quantitative composition of the drug.

The drug "Aquacitramone" is available in the form of granules intended for the preparation of a solution. Ingredients of this medication are: 360 mg of acetylsalicylic acid, 270 mg of paracetamol and 45 mg of caffeine. There is also a preparation "Citramon P" for 6 or 10 tablets in cell contour packs, 1 tablet contains 240 mg of acetylsalicylic acid, 180 mg of paracetamol, 30 mg of caffeine, cocoa beans are an auxiliary substance . Known today in the market and Citramon Boremed, in which 1 tablet contains 220 mg of acetylsalicylic acid, 200 mg of paracetamol, 27 mg of caffeine, 0.0225 mg of cocoa and 4.6 mg of citric acid.

Despite the difference in names and some difference in the composition of the drug - they are all analogues of the drug known throughout the USSR as Citramon. In addition to the above, Citrimon Forte, Citramon Extra, and Citramon Darnitsa are also available. Active substances in them are acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol and caffeine. Included in the active substances determine the pharmacological properties of these drugs and their mutual influence.

Acetylsalicylic acid reduces fever, pain and blood clotting, has an anti-inflammatory effect, and in the inflammation focus increases blood circulation. Caffeine activates the psychomotor centers in the brain, improves blood flow due to vasodilation, anesthetizes, eliminates drowsiness, stimulates mental and physical activity. Paracetamol relieves pain, fever, inflammation.

Indications for the use of the drug are dental and headache, muscle pain, neuralgia, fever in ARI, painful menstruation, influenza and other inflammatory and infectious diseases. Like all drugs, side effects are also the drug Citramon. The instruction describes them. Possible pain in the abdomen, the appearance of nausea or even vomiting, disruption of the kidneys and liver, the emergence of erosive and ulcerative lesions in the gastrointestinal tract. Due to a decrease in blood clotting, bleeding may occur. Allergic reactions, headache and dizziness, as well as sometimes deterioration of eyesight and hearing, the appearance of noise in the ears, are not ruled out.

Some restrictions apply to the drug Citramon. The instruction is informative and recommends that you receive medical advice before applying the medication or if you have any side effects. The drug is not prescribed before surgery, because of the acetylsalicylic acid contained in it, reduces blood clotting. Patients with hypersensitivity to components and children under 15 years of the drug "Citramon" is not prescribed. The intake of barbiturates, rifampicin, antiepileptic drugs and alcohol enhances the formation of metabolites of paracetamol. The effectiveness of anti-gout and hypotensive drugs when taking Citramone is reduced.
