Metragyl denta is an antiprotozoal and antifungal drug. The composition of the drug includes metronidazole, chlorhexidine gluconate - active substances. Sodium saccharin, edetate disodium, purified water, menthol, carbomer-940, propylene glycol are auxiliary ingredients.

Metrogyl denta gel has a whitish or white opalescent (with milky shade) color and a soft consistency.

The drug is used in the treatment and prevention of diseases in the oral cavity of an infectious-inflammatory nature.

The effectiveness of the drug "Metrogil" instruction stipulates the content of two components with antibacterial properties.

Metronidazole has an effect on anaerobic bacteria that provoke periodontal disease. Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic component of the broad spectrum. This ingredient has a bactericidal effect on the vegetative forms of gram-positive and gram-negative microbes, lipophilic viruses, dermatophytes, yeast.

With topical use, the drug is practically not absorbed, because the main active components have minimal therapeutic concentration, and their systemic effect is negligible.

The drug is prescribed for gingivitis (gum disease), periodontitis (chronic and acute), periodontitis youthful, acute ulcerative necrotic gingivitis of Vincent, periodontal disease complicated by inflammation, cheilitis, pulpitis, aphthous stomatitis, postextraction alveolitis (inflammation after removal of the tooth of the socket), inflammation of the mucosa Mouth when using prostheses. As part of a comprehensive treatment, the medication is used for periodontal abscess.

The drug is intended only for use in dentistry.

For gum disease, children over six years of age and adults are advised to apply the gel twice a day to the gums. Flush the drug should not be. The duration of the use of the remedy is from seven to ten days. For half an hour it is recommended to refrain from drinking and eating after applying the medicine.

After removing the dental deposits during periodontitis gel, the pockets are processed and the drug is applied to the gum area. The number of procedures is selected taking into account the severity of the disease. Exposure time - half an hour. The recommended amount of application per day is two. The course is from seven to ten days.

For preventive purposes, to prevent exacerbations of chronic periodontitis and gingivitis, it is recommended to apply the gel for seven or ten days to the gum area twice a day. Courses are carried out two or three times a year.

The drug is contraindicated for the identified individual intolerance of nitromidazole derivatives, as well as horgexidine and metronidazole.

Local application of the drug gel, as a rule, causes a minimum of side effects. In some cases, there may be an allergy (urticaria, rash, itchy skin), headache.

The drug "Metrogil" instruction allows you to apply during pregnancy (gestation) with the appointment of a doctor and under its strict control.

The use of medication is not an alternative to brushing your teeth, you should not stop cleaning them during treatment.

When used locally in the recommended dosage, no systematic interaction with other drugs was observed in clinical practice. Cases of drug overdose are also not described.

Shelf life of the drug is two years. At the end of this period, use of the product is not recommended. Keep Metrogil away from children, at temperatures below twenty-five degrees.
