Blood from the nose, causes and combinations

Nasal bleeding can occur both in patients and in healthy people. In the latter category, it can be caused by symptoms of pathological processes in the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, other systems and organs. Bleeding can be either anterior (outward from the nostrils) or posterior (along the wall of the nasopharynx, into the stomach), causing vomiting. In most healthy people, bleeding is uninhabitable and goes on by itself, without treatment.

Blood from the nose, causes and their combination:

- Excessive emotional and physical activity (in the nasal cavity blood filling of small vessels increases, which breaks the integrity of their walls;

- the influx of blood to the head, caused by overheating of the body in the sun (headaches, noises in the head);

- Desiccation of the mucosa, caused by prolonged exposure to frosty air (tearing walls of superficial lying, small vessels).

Blood from the nose, causes of local character:

- Foreign bodies that damage the mucous membrane (cotton buds, pencils, spray dispensers, own fingers);

- trauma caused by a fall or stroke (damage to the nasal structures), accompanied by severe pain, the formation of bruising, edema of soft tissues.

- Rhinitis, sinusitis, sinusitis, frontalitis (inflammatory processes in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses). In these cases, bleeding occurs against a background of general deterioration of health, temperature rise and so on;

- Rendu-Osler's disease (vascular anomalies in the nose) causes spontaneous bleeding without any apparent cause.

If there is blood from the nose, the causes of bleeding should be looked for in the form of tumors in the paranasal sinuses, in the nasal septum and in the nasal cavity.

In most cases, the answer to the question of why blood runs from the nose is quite trivial:

- surgical interventions (plastic septum), nasal sprays and antihistamines, irritating the nasal mucosa, as well as inhaling narcotic drugs.

Blood from the nose, causes of a systemic nature:

- Allergic reactions (inflammation of the mucosa, enlargement of small vessels, rupture of their walls or petechial hemorrhages from them);

- the use of alcohol (dilates blood vessels, which in combination with other factors causes bleeding);

- hypertensive crisis (rupture of vessel walls due to sudden increase in pressure);

- Blood diseases also increase the risk of occurrence in the vessels of petechial bleeding (hemophilia, hemoblastosis, anemia);

- Also, if there is blood from the nose, the reasons can be hidden in an overdose of some medications used both inward (anticoagulants) and locally (drops for the nose);

- Pathology of connective tissues (SLE, vasculitis, scleroderma), thinning the walls of blood vessels, and cause "impregnation" of blood through them.

Modern medicine explains why blood runs from the nose, vitamin C deficiency (collagen production decreases) and vitamin K ( blood viscosity decreases), which leads to petechial hemorrhages from the vessels of the nose without disturbing the integrity of their walls.

Bleeding can be caused not only by vessels of the mucous membrane, they can also be a consequence of pulmonary hemorrhage (blood bright red, foamy); Bleeding of the upper part of the digestive tract (dark blood clots); Bleeding from large vessels of the nose, from decaying malignant tumors, nasopharynx and so on.

It is necessary to remember, if you bleed from the nose, the cause should be sought only after it has been possible to stop the bleeding (within fifteen minutes). In cases where bleeding can not be stopped and when there are doubts about its occurrence, it is necessary to immediately seek help from a specialist.
