Chimney modular. Installation of modular chimneys

Chimney is a device that serves to remove combustion products. The design of this element of the furnace, boiler or fireplace will depend on its effective operation and safety during operation.

All types of chimneys, regardless of the cost and types of materials used, are subject to the same requirements:

  • Resistance to high temperatures;
  • Corrosion resistance;
  • Mechanical strength at high temperatures;
  • durability;
  • Easy installation.

This is an incomplete list of requirements for chimneys. All of them are described in a special normative document SNiP 41-01-2003. It stands for "Heating, ventilation and air conditioning".

Varieties

In total, there are several types of devices:

  • Chimney is classical;
  • Chimney modular.

The classical version was made of brickwork. It is built at the last stage, after or before laying the roofing material. To install it requires the involvement of a specialist in brick masonry. When using poor-quality material, it quickly fails.

Chimney modular - a modern development, the creation of which uses the latest materials. It is installed at any stage of construction, satisfies all Russian building codes. It is made of the following types of materials:

  • Carbon steel ;
  • stainless steel;
  • Ceramic material.

When installing a modular chimney does not require the involvement of specialists and the use of specific tools. The structure does not spoil the facade of the building.

Steel single-contour products

This modular chimney is made of thick-walled or thin-walled steel and is the cheapest in its class. Has a polished outer wall that fits well into the interior.

This type of chimney is only used inside the building. Due to its rapid cooling, the formation of condensate is possible, which, when reacted with carbon monoxide, forms a harmful substance that has a bad effect on people as well as on the product itself. Thick-walled chimneys modular have a limited lifespan, and in the thin-walled variety it is even smaller.

Steel double-circuit versions

For the possibility of external use, the design of the metal chimneys has been radically changed, a heat-insulating gap has been added. To do this, use two metal pipes of different diameters, inserted into each other. The space between them is filled with mineral wool. This allows a long time to maintain the high temperature inside the chimney, do not overheat the outer circuit. Thus, the conditions for the formation of condensate are excluded. However, due to poor corrosion resistance, the life of such a chimney modular is limited. This causes its low popularity.

Double modular chimneys made of stainless steel

Structurally, the modular system is similar to a two-circuit steel chimney. Stainless steel has tremendous physical properties. Compared to conventional metal, it has a lower specific gravity, better corrosion resistance, is not affected by sulfuric acid. The only drawback of this design is its cost. However, if you compare the life of analogues, it turns out that it is several times smaller, and, consequently, the total cost of a cheap chimney will eventually be higher.

Modular ceramic chimneys

They are made of a special composition of clay, which has undergone thermal treatment. They are also called ceramic chamotte tubes. The weight of the structure is relatively small. The outer walls have different shapes and patterns, are durable, but require some care. When heated, do not emit harmful substances.

Device

For simplified installation, the modular chimney systems provide various fittings that minimize costs. Let's consider the basic elements of the modular system:

  • Straight sections are the basic elements. Are made of various lengths (from 1,5 to 0,5 meters). Connect the joint to each other in the joint.
  • Tee - serves to change the route at a right angle with the possibility of cleaning the chimney. To do this, with one unused side put a cap - glass. It hermetically closes the entire system, preventing smoke from entering the room. When the time is right for preventive maintenance of the chimney, the beaker is easily removed, as a result, there is access for cleaning the chimney.
  • Knee - serves to change the track at an angle of 45 degrees. In the case where there is an obstacle along the path of the chimney route, this element allows you to move away from a straight path and bypass the difficulty.
  • Passing component - serves for passage of the chimney between the floors. This device will safely pass between the burnable floors, for example, if there is a wooden floor between the first and second floors. Its installation is dictated by the building and fire regulations. There are elements with different angles of inclination of the insulating plates. During installation, it is necessary to exclude their docking inside the pass-through component.
  • Roof passage - serves to seal the outlet of the chimney through the roof. It is structurally similar to a passageway, but it has in its design an insulating gasket for waterproofing penetrations. The insulation material is suitable for most roof types with different angles of inclination. When choosing this element, it is worth paying attention to this fact. All necessary clamps and insulating gaskets are supplied.
  • Wall bracket - is designed to fix the chimney on the external facade wall of the house. It withstands wind loads, is painted in silver color or has hot-dip galvanized execution. At each manufacturer the distance between the fasteners is different, you should consult the seller.

Important procedure

Installation of modular chimneys is made from the furnace and moves from the bottom up. All elements are sealed together. It does not require the use of special tools, welding, soldering. The connection is made by special pressed grooves. The only serious obstacle can arise when crossing partitions.

The chimney module is fixed to the bearing surface by special brackets, which are tightened together by bolts. All work does not take much time and does not require professionalism. After the installation is completed, it will be necessary to remove the protective film from the outer shell of the chimney, which protects against premature scratching of the mirror surface.
