The Trans-Siberian Railway is an amazing railway with the longest length in the whole world. It originates in the European part of Russia and stretches through the most beautiful nature to the Far East. Looking at this beautiful construction of human hands, I involuntarily want to ask how it appeared and how much time was spent on building this "railway wonder of the world"?

History of construction

Quite a lot of time was spent building the Transsib. The history and prospects for the development of this amazing highway have become part of Russia's culture. The road was built for fifteen years. Since the moment when Captain Nevelsky at the mouth of the Amur raised the Russian flag, everyone on his lips was building the Trans-Siberian Railway.

The development prospects were staggering. It was just necessary to connect the vast expanses of Russia. In the nineteenth century, this process was accelerated by the merchants, when they began to ask the emperor for it. The year 1886 became significant: Alexander III issued a decree, and the long-awaited construction work began.

The first sound of a pick was heard in the Miass area. They say that it was the Urals that was to become the mother of this railway.

Initiative of the Emperor

The beginning was laid rather solemnly - the prince Nikolai poured a handful of earth onto a fresh railway track. It is the thirty-first of March is considered the official date of the first works. Already at that time the need for transport communication increased enormously.

Between the new Russian lands and Moscow were hundreds of kilometers, and the population in the Urals increased to three million. The government was aware that a large-scale railway branch was needed to fully develop the transport network.

Prospects for the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway were quite extensive. Taking up this, Alexander III pursued not only an economic goal. His strategy he wanted to achieve a rapid transfer of troops to the Pacific Ocean. But it was not the only secret goal.

With the appearance of the canvas, the country's economic position would be significantly strengthened. Russia was able to strengthen its influence on Mongolia and China. Everything progressed at a good pace: by 1886, the road had already reached Ufa, and three years later - Zlatoust. But unfortunately, not everything was as smooth as we would have liked.

Problems and doubts

If at first the route ran through a relatively flat steppe, now swamps, mountains and giant piles of stones began. The situation was disappointing, however, the emperor did not frighten it. He was adamant and did not yield to any persuasion, the decision was made - the road will be.
Fortunately, the main minister of finance was a big support for him, who was firm and unshakable in the belief that the prospects for the development of the Trans-Siberian Railway would more than pay off the hopes placed on them.

Problems of railway construction

The construction was already gaining momentum and in 1891 the first rails were transferred to the steamship under the name "Petersburg". But it was not the only cargo ... Fifty convicts and engineers were brought to Vladivostok. They were the ones who tried to become the first builders in a grandiose project. Many realize that some disappointing facts from the history of construction were hidden. The work was conducted under the most difficult conditions, besides the canvas was built at the same time east and west.

Severe and ruthless weather of many disabled and significantly slowed down the robot. It was incredibly hard work, not all stood ... Sharp shortage of funds, namely money for construction, significantly exacerbated the situation.

The whole problem was that initially for construction stood out three hundred and fifty million rubles, but after a few months it became clear that the costs would be much more substantial. Nobody believed that for such money, there could be any prospects for the development of the Trans-Siberian Railway. To put it briefly, austerity began: the embankments were reduced, the sleepers were shortened, the bridges were built wooden, which in itself was very risky.

This state of affairs could not but affect the number of stations - they were exactly half as many as originally planned. This was a real description of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The prospects for development were bright, however, it soon became clear that serious problems would arise.

Characteristics of works

And of course, there were problems with the workforce. At the construction site, during the working process, there were about 100,000 people at all times. Among them were both local and foreign visitors.
They all wanted to eat and drink, they needed to get dressed in something. They carried heavy labor tools from afar. The trunk was completely laid manually. The journalists who came to the robot's place were shocked by what they saw: people standing on the waist in the wet snow, people all day long chopped down the dense Taiga. They sixteen hours a day in light clothes and straw bast shoes uprooted roots and stumps.

The Trans-Siberian Railway: Plans for the Future

In general, for twenty-five years, thousands of people have put not only their health, but also life to build this eighth wonder of the world. Having scored financial results, the authorities announced the budget of the railway - one and a half million gold rubles. In the near future, it is planned to restore it, which, according to many, will have a significant impact on the state budget.
Completion of the construction was the construction of a bridge in the Khabarovsk area. It was built over the Amur River. Who would have thought that there would still be a Trans-Siberian Railway. Prospects for development and ways to improve the efficiency of the railway are actively being considered to this day. She had so many enemies and opponents who sincerely did not understand why to invest so much public funds in such a supposedly dubious project, however, it still exists and will be substantially reconstructed in the near future.

Problems and prospects of development of the Trans-Siberian Railway

To date, the main function of the railway is the transportation of goods. Without it, Siberia could never have reached this level of development. Thanks to the reform with the Transsib, literally the river was flooded with oils and wheat. Today, many were able to assess the economic and strategic importance of the railway. With its help to reach the central regions of the country can be much cheaper than other modern modes of transport.

Unfortunately, every year one can observe how its infrastructural capacity is decreasing. It becomes clear that the railway needs substantial reconstruction. With the advent of modern technologies, this does not seem to be a problem, however, it should be noted that it began to exist in the XIX century and is already quite dilapidated. What is the future of the Trans-Siberian Railway? Prospects for development are mainly reduced to the implementation of several infrastructure projects in the Far East and Eastern Siberia.
These are quite global ideas, which, most likely, private companies will not have enough money, since this is connected with certain financial risks. However, this has its advantages. If the project is implemented with the help of the state, this will create a large number of jobs, and, consequently, tax deductions to the state budget.
