Cadillac Eldorado - the legendary car

In 1909 the company of General Motors bought from the American inventor Henry Liland created in 1902 the brand Cadillac. According to many, it was she who became the standard for the whole of the automotive industry in America. And launched in 1953 series of Cadillacs Eldorado has the longest history of production among luxury cars. Eldorado 53 years was equipped with a five-liter V8 engine with 210 hp. Dynamic appearance and chic leather exterior made this car truly luxurious. Its cost was almost double the cost of other convertibles, but the model fully justified the costs.

In 1954 Cadillac Eldorado acquired a special recognizable style with original sharp fins and round headlights.

1950's. Eldorado Brougham

In 1957, after two years of development, the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham came off the assembly line - one of the most magnificent models of the Eldorado series. A hard, rust-free top, armchairs with memory, and a pneumatic suspension made this sedan unrivaled in terms of equipment at that time. Such suspension and tubular frame X-shaped have become an innovation in the automotive industry. The whole design of the model was aimed at feeling comfortable and safe in it.

1960-70s

Since 1960 Cadillac Eldorado has a front-wheel drive, a coupe with a long front and partially closed headlights. The car was equipped with a new engine of 8.2 liters of capacity and 400 hp. Also at this time Cadillacs got a completely new chassis, planetary box and transistor braking system. The contours of the car became pointed. This design is very popular with the public, and the model has often appeared in books and on the screen.

In the 70's models are produced with a flat top, half-closed rear wheels and a massive front bumper. The engine's volume remained, but the horsepower was reduced to 365 to improve handling. The shift lever has moved to the steering wheel, which made it possible to make the front seat three-seater. For the first time natural wooden panels were used .

In 1975, the round headlights became rectangular, and the rear wheels open. And in 1976 Cadillac celebrated the 200th anniversary of the United States with the release of 200 cars in national colors called "Bicentennial Edition", which were claimed as "the latest cabriolets". Eldorado Biarritz, 1978, remains committed to its style. The car became shorter and lighter thanks to a new independent rear suspension. Power and fuel consumption also decreased. However, Eldorado still remained a fairly large and powerful machine, and its equipment was unparalleled in its time.

1980-90s

Forecasts for the ban or lack of demand for cabriolets were not justified, and in the 80s Cadillac returned to their release. The 1984 model of the Eldorado Convertible became scandalous, because the company was showered with claims from the owners of the "latest gigs" who paid high prices for them. Eldorado Convertible with front-wheel drive, with an engine capacity of 5.7 liters and a 105 hp diesel fuel, was indeed the last cabriolet in the Cadillac Eldorado series. In the 80s, the length, weight and power of the car, following the general trends, are further reduced. Motor Eldorado Biarritz Convertible in 1985 in volume does not exceed 4.1 liters. Despite the novelties, the model does not look so chic, but it's still expensive, which has a strong impact on sales.

Since 1991, Cadillac Eldorado is a completely different car, similar in technical characteristics to Cadillac Seville. In 1992 Cadillacs are gaining popularity again due to the powerful streamlined body and the newly enlarged dimensions. But by 1995, sales were falling strongly, and the company came to a decision to close the series.

In honor of his jubilee in 2002, Cadillac released a small batch of legendary cars. This brand for almost 50 years was a model among luxury cars and a visiting card of the manufacturer.

To date, the price of the model Cadillac Eldorado varies from two to four million rubles.
