From there the very word "kohlrabi" came, in German, meaning "cabbage turnip." In the 17th century, this vegetable was already known and consumed throughout Europe.

To date, the biggest fans of kohlrabi can be called: America, Germany, Bulgaria and China. It is also widespread in the Netherlands, in almost all countries of Europe and Central Asia.

Eating a stalk is eaten. Using a vegetable such as cabbage kohlrabi recipes are created quite different. For example, you can eat cabbage in cooked, cheese, liver, fried and stewed. Often it is added to soups and salads, stuffed with various fillings (rice, vegetables, meat). You can generally serve it as a side dish to the meat dishes.

Cabbage refers to a type of vegetable that can accumulate a large amount of nitrates. Especially a lot of them in plants grown in greenhouses and greenhouses. Excess nitrates in consumed food make it very difficult to transfer oxygen in the blood and even increases the possibility of developing cancerous tumors.

Soup from kohlrabi

Ingredients:

- 100 grams of kohlrabi;

- 20 grams of carrots;

- 15 grams of turnips;

- 5 grams of parsley;

- 10 grams of onions;

- 5 grams of tomato puree;

- 50 grams of potatoes;

- 10 grams of oil;

- 10 grams of salad;

- 25 grams of sour cream.

Slice the parsley, carrots, celery, turnips and onions. All this must be rescued in oil, adding tomato sauce to the pan. Also slice cut kohlrabi, immerse it in boiling water for a couple of minutes and throw it back on the sieve. Dice the potatoes. In a pre-prepared boiling broth (you can just water) put the vegetables. Let them cook with a weak boil for about 20 minutes. For a couple of minutes before the end of the cooking, add the chopped lettuce to the pan.

You serve soup with sour cream.

Cabbage salad with carrots

Ingredients;

- 400 grams of kohlrabi;

- 200 grams of carrots;

- one apple;

- 1 table. A spoonful of lemon juice;

- 150 grams of sour cream;

- salt.

Peel carrots and kohlrabi from the skin, cut them into strips. Peeled from the skin and seeds, apple, also cut with straws and mix with lemon juice. Then all must be combined, salt, stir and add the sour cream.
