Bromhexine (Berlin Chemie)

Bromhexine (Berlin Chemie) is a secretolytic (mucolytic) agent, has an expectorant and non-expressed antitussive property. Produced in the form of a dragee, a drop (inside), a solution for injection. Bromhexine (Berlin Chemie) for children is produced in the form of tablets, syrup.

The drug lowers the viscosity of sputum, increases its volume and enhances withdrawal, and also facilitates the activation of ciliated epithelium. Bromhexine (Berlin Chemie) improves the production of surfactant (surfactant) endogenous, which provides stability in the process of breathing alveolar cells. The result begins to appear after the expiration of two to five days after the start of the admission.

Bromgexin (Berlin Chemie) is shown in diseases of the respiratory tract accompanied by a difficult sputum discharge. They include: bronchitis of various nature (including those complicated by bronchiectasis), tracheobronchitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia (chronic, acute), cystic fibrosis. A drug is also prescribed for the sanation of the bronchial tree before the operations, when performing diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations (intrabronchial), as a prophylaxis of accumulation of thick and viscous sputum in the postoperative period in the bronchi.

Contraindicated Bromgeksin (Berlin-Chemie) with peptic gastric ulcer, hypersensitivity, in the first trimester of pregnancy, during lactation. Patients under the age of six years (for the tablet form) are not prescribed.

In renal, hepatic insufficiency, bronchial diseases with excessive accumulation of secretion, with gastric bleeding in the history is applied with caution.

Side effects may be allergic reactions, dizziness, dyspepsia, nausea, exacerbation of peptic ulcer (in the duodenum and stomach), headache.

In case of an overdose, the patient feels vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia ( digestive disorders ). Therapy of conditions is gastric lavage, artificial vomiting (in the first hour or two after administration).

Patients under two years of age are prescribed two milligrams, from two to six years - the dosage is doubled (4 mg), from six to fourteen years - twice more (8 mg). Take recommended per day three times. If necessary, adults are allowed to increase the dose to 16 mg, the number of receptions at the same time - 4 per day.

A solution for inhalations is used in the amount of 8 mg for adults, patients older than ten years - half the amount (4 mg), children from two to ten years - 2 mg. The recommended frequency of procedures is two per day. Before use, the solution is diluted 1: 1 with distilled water and heated to the patient's body temperature.

During the therapeutic course, a large volume of fluid is recommended. Thus, the expectorant property of the drug is enhanced. Treatment of children should be carried out in conjunction with vibratory chest massage or postural drainage (a procedure in which the patient is in a position where the sputum is released under gravity).

Bromhexine is not prescribed with cough suppressants, due to the fact that it reduces the loss of liquefied secretion. The drug is not compatible with alkali solutions, promotes the introduction of antibiotics (Erythromycin, Amoxicillin, Oxytetracycline, Cephalexin), sulfonamide drugs in sputum for the first four to five days of antimicrobial treatment.

After admission in young patients, Bromhexin (Berlin Chemie) reviews parents, mostly positive. The drug is synthetic and in many cases does not cause negative effects in allergic people, unlike other drugs.
