The very name - the island of Borneo - is associated in imagination with painted natives, mysterious pirate treasures, intertribal wars. It is divided territorially between three states: Indonesia, as well as Malaysia and Brunei.

On Borneo, rest is possible throughout the year, because here all the time summer. In translation, the name of the island means "below ground wind", because it is actually located in the zone of the typhoon belt.

And in January, and in July, it ranges from 25 to 30 degrees. The most humid are April, May, October months, so the number of tourists at this time is sharply reduced.

Many who have visited this exotic island, consider it a fairy tale, realized in reality. And bright clear water, and white sand, and palm trees, tilting to the water, and a huge number of nearby uninhabited islands - all this guarantees an unforgettable vacation.

The island of Borneo is the largest in the Malay Archipelago. Its unique fauna and flora attracts a huge number of lovers of untouched nature. It is here that you can meet the world's largest flower Rafflesia, which in the girth has almost two meters, the rarest species of orchids. In general, up to 60 varieties of trees grow on the island, including camphor, cinnamon, gutta percha, etc. And the fruits on the island are so good that many people come here solely because of them.

Beaches of Borneo are rich in vegetation, they are protected by coral islands from the waves.

The main thing is that apart from beach rest and diving, tourists are attracted here - this is an opportunity to become a pioneer of wildlife.

Having visited the island, it is absolutely necessary to climb Mount Kinibalu. It is here that you can enjoy the unreal beauty of local landscapes, swim in the hydrocarbon thermal springs. Right next door you can rent a chalet and take a bath. There it is also necessary to see the bridge, which literally hangs on the branches of tall trees.

The protected parks of the island were practically not affected by human activities. There is often a live gibbon or a flying fox, rare plants, in one word the whole pristine beauty that has been hidden from human eyes for many centuries.

The island of Borneo - a real land of adventure with rain forests, majestic rivers, a huge number of caves, tropical coral atolls, located mainly in its eastern part.

Marine reserves offer an excellent opportunity for diving, attracting in Sabah - one of the states of the island, lovers of underwater beauties, and rafting in the mountain streams - a favorite pastime for extreme lovers.

Choosing a holiday in Borneo, it is necessary to visit the caves of Mulu and Niakh, famous for their excavations: it was here that the remains of an ancient man, dating back to 40 thousand years, were found.

A peculiar sight of the island are "longhouse" - long houses built on high rafters. Their feature is the ability to grow in length, placing, at times, in themselves whole tribes of natives.

In national restaurants you can taste local cuisine, the main ingredients of which are, of course, seafood, meat and noodles.

The island of Borneo is called Kalimantan in another way, which many people associate with the children's books of Main Reed.
