Bakopa ampelnaya: decorative landscaping

Such a plant as a bacon fell into Europe from the southern regions of Africa. It is rather unpretentious ampel perennial, which is used for such purposes as landscaping of balconies, fences, walls, alpine hills and even pillars. Its leaves have a bright green color and diameter, which is an average of only 2 cm. As for shoots, their length reaches a mark of 60 cm.

The entire stem of the plant is strewn with small flowers of snow-white, blue, violet or pink. They themselves are crumbled after the end of the flowering period, which starts in March and ends with the first autumn frosts.

Bakopa ampelna refers to hygrophilous plants, which need abundant and timely watering. It must be done daily. At the same time, it should be noted that this requirement is the only one of serious, and in all other respects care is quite simple.

Planting and care

As already mentioned above, the plant is very lethargic. It grows well not only in the sun, but also in the shade, but in the second case, instead of the abundance of flowers, only leaves will develop.

Bakopa ampelnaya perfectly tolerates temperature changes and small frosts. This allows you to grow it not only on the balcony, but also on open areas, from early spring to mid-autumn. For the winter, the plant is usually transferred to a cool enclosed space, while minimizing watering. As for fertilizers, they should be introduced at least once in a decade. Frequent pinching of shoots will make bushes magnificent.

The bacon in the open ground grows well, regardless of the variety. Along with this, preference is best given to drained soil with low acidity and a large amount of humus. Landing in the open space is recommended at a distance of 10 cm between adjacent specimens. In connection with the location of the roots at a short distance from the surface, loosening must be done very carefully. Among the key advantages of the plant should be noted its high resistance to all sorts of diseases and pests.

Reproduction

Despite the fact that the ampel bacop is considered perennial, the old bushes bloom poorly. In this regard, after winter, the plant is usually rooted in a new way. It can be propagated by propagation or by means of seeds. In the first case, it is necessary to cut off the upper part of one of the shoots. It should have two knots and a length of about 10 cm. After this, you can start rooting, the optimal time for which will be January-March or August-September. It is done in such a way that one of the nodes remains on the surface, and the second is located under the ground. Cuttings are recommended to be processed with phytohormones, which will provide more active growth. Next, the container is sent to the greenhouse, and at the stage of active development, the tops are pricked. The plant is transferred to an open place in the garden in early May.

The second method, which multiplies the ampel bakop - with the help of seeds. They germinate approximately 10 days after planting. Already with the appearance of the first leaves, the plant is dived. The distance between individual seedlings should be about 2 cm. The second picking involves the separation of the seedlings into different pots and their fertilizing with fertilizers. Roots are formed after about half a month.
