Baby food: lactose-free

To any kid for maintenance of health and strengthening of immunity it is necessary to receive in enough quantity a thoracal mother's milk. This is the most valuable and useful product for a newborn in the first months of life who does not need anything else.

With sufficient amounts of breast milk, supplemental nutrition is started only six to seven months after the baby's birth. However, there are cases when the baby has an individual intolerance from the first days of his life. This means that the mother's milk for one reason or another is not absorbed by the child's body. And then the only optimal solution is to switch to special lactose-free mixtures.

Currently, such substitutes are used in two main cases: in the presence of an allergic reaction to breastfeeding or non-perception of milk sugar in the baby. Deficiency of lactose can be both primary and secondary. In the first case, this is a congenital insufficiency, observed only in 4-5% of babies.

Secondary deficiency occurs much more often and is a consequence of damage to intestinal cells as a result of certain diseases. Lactose deficiency is identified by such signs as a loose stool, a constant bloating and a cessation of weight gain. Faced with such symptoms, pediatricians advise to transfer the newborn to feeding special mixtures.

To date, such substitutes are produced most often on the basis of casein calcium. Lactose-free infant formulas are completely devoid of lactose, which allows them to be used for children with intestinal infections. Such substitutes contain in their composition special fatty acids, glucose syrup, which is easily digested, and nucleotides are special components that help to strengthen and maintain the immune system of the baby. In addition, lactose-free mixtures include various prebiotics, which are aimed at correcting the existing disorders of the intestinal microflora. For example, elimination of a motor function disorder.

In addition, lactose-free mixtures, whose reviews are mostly only positive, can be fully absorbed by children with various digestive problems, and are also able to effectively resist a variety of intestinal infections. In this case, it is not just about providing adequate nutrition for the newborn, but also about their use as a remedy able to solve a variety of health problems.

The most popular today are such lactose-free mixtures as NAN, Nutrilon and Enfamil. All of them are adapted for baby food, starting from the moment of birth. Such lactose-free mixtures can be safely used as the sole source of the necessary trace elements in the absence or deficiency of mother's milk. They contribute to the proper development of the intestinal microflora and strengthen immunity. However, it is very important to take into account the fact that such mixtures have a significant therapeutic effect, and therefore it is not worth taking an independent decision about their use. It is necessary to consult a pediatrician and, together with him, to choose the optimal mixture.
