Azelaic acid for non-ideal skin

Azelaic acid is very popular in the pharmaceutical ingredient, which is actively used in anti-acne remedies. It is contained in a small amount in the human body, where it is formed in the process of lipid metabolism. For cosmetic and pharmaceutical purposes, it is obtained biochemically.

Basic properties

Azelaic acid has several interesting and, of course, useful properties.

First, it has an anti-inflammatory effect and is able to stop the growth and multiplication of bacteria that play a key role in the development of inflammatory processes in the sebaceous glands. It has depigmenting, anti-acne action.

When using creams that contain azelaic acid, after a few weeks, the number of bacteria that live on the skin is significantly reduced. It is very important that there is no risk of formation of strains resistant to its effects. Therefore, it does not cause "addiction" at all and is very effective even with prolonged use, even for several months.

Azelaic acid actively prevents the keratinization of the upper layers of the skin. Due to this quality, it prevents the clogging of pores, and therefore, prevents the appearance of comedones (black dots). In addition, under the influence of it, the process of skin pigmentation slows down or completely vanishes . It suppresses the production of a natural dark pigment melanin, which results in an easy whitening effect.

Azelaic acid is an excellent antioxidant. This property, coupled with many other effects, makes it an effective cosmetic.

Ointment and cream with azelaic acid, can be used during pregnancy. However, women breast-feeding should reduce dosage and regularity of use.

When applied to the skin with azelaic acid, it penetrates the dermis and epidermis, 3.6% of it is absorbed into the bloodstream. Leaves the body in almost unchanged form, along with urine.

Remember, if you read that azelaic acid is present in the product, the cream or lotion will be much more effective than others.
