Author of love-historical novels Beverly Joe: biography and creativity

The works of this Anglo-Canadian writer repeatedly headed the list of bestsellers according to The New York Times. They were awarded prestigious awards, including the Rita Award from the Union of American Writers of Novelists and Career Achievement Awards from the magazine Romantic Times. But the main achievement of Joe Beverley has always considered the readers' constant interest in their work. Youth

Mary Josephine Dunn (Beverly) was born September 22, 1947 in the English resort town of Blackpool, located on the coast of the Irish Sea (Lancashire). Already during her studies at the boarding school for the girls of the Layton Hill monastery, she showed a love of history and literature. Samples of the pen of the young author were then expressed in small historical stories and novels.

At the age of sixteen, Joe Beverly wrote her first novel, the events of which unfolded in medieval England. Some of the favorite characters later appeared to the reader thanks to this teenage manuscript.

The training at the Staffordshire University in Killa was crucial for Mary. A meticulous study of English and American history between 1966 and 1970 was rewarded with a scientific degree, and access to archival materials from the regent period of the future King George IV had a serious impact on the further choice of the genre of the writer. In addition to everything, her lover, the scientist Ken Beverly, Mary met at the university and in 1971 married him. Being a certified specialist, Beverly Joe until 1976 worked as an employee for youth employment and did not think about the career of the writer, but everything changed the case.

Moving to Canada

After defending his doctoral dissertation, Mary's husband received a profitable offer from Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada). The prospect of serious scientific work for Ken was the decisive argument in favor of moving the young family to Canada. Not finding their professional skills in the Canadian job market, Beverly Joe decided to recall her youthful passion and turned to literary creativity.

Despite the innovative and in-depth approach to the genre, the writer's works have not been published for a long time. Literary career

Moving the family to Montreal was the starting point in Beverly's literary career. In 1984, she attended a lecture by Janet Adams, executive advisor to the Association of Novel Writers, devoted to the status of romance in fiction. In the same year, the Beverly family moved to Ottawa, where the novice writer became a member of the city Association of Novelist Writers, but the author's first published works were written in the science fiction genre. Four years later, Joe even became the winner of the Lafayette fantasy competition Ronald Hubbard.

However, Beverly Joe's romance has gained worldwide popularity, bringing the reader to the wonderful world of beautiful ladies and gallant gentlemen. The first work written in this genre was sold and published in 1988. In all, the writer has more than thirty novels, as well as many short stories and stories.
