The association "Massandra" (Crimea) consists of the main large winery and nine state farm-factories, which have the names: Gurzuf, Livadiya, Alushta, Tavrida, Greet, Malorechensky, Sudak , "Veselovsky" and "Sea". The vineyards have an area of about 4000 hectares.
About the winery
Famous for the whole world of winery "Massandra" (Crimea) was founded by Prince L. Golitsyn in 1894. He chose the perfect place with an excellent microclimate for creating wine cellars - it is a mountain slope near the city of Yalta. The factory was built very qualitatively. Its walls did not give a single crack in the earthquake in 1927.

A distinctive feature of the company - all brands of wines are produced only from own grapes. Plantations of the association "Massandra" (Crimea) are stretched along the Southern coast from Foros to Sudak, where there is a unique subtropical microclimate in combination with crushed rocky clay soils and mountain relief. These conditions favor the cultivation of grapes with unique flavor properties.

Massandra's collection is famous for the fact that each brand is unique. Today their number is more than sixty kinds. Muscats are especially popular. For example, Muscat White Red Stone twice received the nomination of the world's best wine at international exhibitions. Wine varieties are different in taste, but they all have excellent quality and long-term aging. This fact is proved by numerous awards of international exhibitions and tastings. All over the world, one of the best drinks is the Crimean wines.
Interesting Facts
At various international tastings and competitions the association "Massandra" (Crimea) has won various cups: ten "Grand Prix" and six "Super Grand Prix". Also, the company was awarded 225 gold and silver medals. No other winery company received more awards for its products. Massandra's wines were exhibited three times at the international famous Sotheby's auction. In 2001, the oldest bottle of sherry left the auction for $ 50,000. Today the oldest wine in the collection of the plant is the Spanish sherry of 1775 called "Jerez de la Frontera". There are other species that are more than one hundred years old.
