Arthritis: symptoms

One of the most common diseases is arthritis. Symptoms of it are as follows: a tumor around the joint, a change in its appearance, a sense of constraint movements. The joint loses mobility, the temperature of the tissues over it rises, redness of the skin is observed, pain occurs during movement and when the weights are lifted. The condition can be complicated by fever, general weakness and leukocytosis.

Inflammation occurs more in the inner shell of the joint and can spread to the epiphyses of the bones, cartilage, joint capsule. The tissues located near the joint can also be damaged: tendons, ligaments, bags.
Arthritis, in which one joint is damaged, is called monoarthritis, two or three joints are oligoarthritis, a larger number is polyarthritis. It can be acute, that is, it may occur immediately, accompanied by severe pain, or perhaps chronic, which develops gradually.

There are many varieties of arthritis, each of which has its own distinctive features.

Osteoarthritis. This is the most common variety. It arises as a result of the gradual disappearance of bone tissue (protective cartilage) of the joint. The surfaces of the bones are unprotected and rub against each other. A person experiences pain and difficulty while moving. The cause of osteoarthritis may be overweight, hereditary predisposition, etc.

Infectious arthritis. Symptoms of this disease - redness of the skin, swelling, local temperature increase. For the most part, the joints of the hands and feet are affected by a bacterial infection that occurs due to complications after trauma or other illness. Also, the disease can cause chlamydia and mycoplasma.

Rheumatoid arthritis. In the common people it is also called rheumatism. The disease occurs due to malfunctions of the immune system and is characteristic of individuals whose age is more than 40 years. It happens in young patients, but less often. Women are more likely to develop the disease. Until now, it is not known exactly what causes this arthritis. Symptoms: there is a symmetrical lesion of the joints, they become inflamed; There is fatigue and insomnia; Joint mobility is limited; Pains occur mostly in the morning.

Dystrophic arthritis. Symptoms are the same as in other species. Its causes are metabolic disorders, physical overstrain, cooling, lack of vitamins, and the like. A variety is gout, which arises in connection with a metabolic disorder and is very often hereditary. In women, this disease is much less common. Usually only one joint is affected, mostly on the elbows and knees.

Reactive arthritis. Symptoms can be very diverse. It manifests itself in the form of violations of the urinary system, intestinal disorders, etc. The general condition of the body worsens, the temperature rises, the joints of the lower extremities swell up: the ankles, knees, heels, etc. Their lack of mobility and severe pain are noted. Often accompanied by pain in the spine. Usually, this type of arthritis strikes first one joint, and later the inflammatory process covers the other.

Treatment should be prescribed taking into account the causes that caused the disease. It should be aimed at preventing the destruction of cartilage, the restoration of metabolism, the preservation of joint functions. It is necessary to reduce the load on the damaged joint: wear special orthopedic shoes, use a cane, knee pads, etc. It will not be superfluous to go to the pool. It is best to follow the recommendations of a doctor when such a disease occurs.
