The recruits of the spring draft of 2014 were pleasantly surprised when they received a military vanity bag in the kit. It contains a set that solves two problems at once:

A bit of history

Despite the French origin of the word, for Russia this kind of attribute of military uniforms is not new. Back in the XVII century, soldiers recruited for service were given a recruit's reticule.

The content of the set will amuse the modern draftee. He does not like objects such as powder and forceps for waving a wig, hemp and crocheting. So did the great commander Suvorov. He got rid, after all, of unnecessary ballast in the campaign.

After some time the army vanity bag appeared again. Now it was a small iron box with a comb, a razor, scissors and a spoon.

Valiant revolutionary commanders threw out the bourgeois trifle to the side of history and bravo went to remake the world. By the beginning of World War II, the officers had acquired small field suitcases. They were always ready. They housed a change of linen and toilet articles.

In the years of developed socialism the visors again became popular, and not only for the military. To have a vanity case from the GDR, the Czech Republic or Yugoslavia was not only practical, but also prestigious.

Purpose

The literal translation of the word "vanity case" is "necessary". And indeed it is. The need for toilet items in the army is not so much a luxury as a necessity. Undoubtedly, it is better to keep them in one place.

In military service, the main thing is speed, accuracy and compliance with the rules of the statute. The army vanity bag meets all the requirements. Quickly and compactly assembled, it takes up little space. Items are each in its place. The content corresponds to the rules of military service and is easily controlled.

The main purpose of the nessesser is to use it in the field, on the road, on a business trip. Therefore, it is given to draftees before coming to the place of service. Servicemen of all arms of the armed forces, including cadets and pupils of military schools, will be provided with a new accessory.

Appearance and complete set of army nessessers

Several versions of nessessers were issued. They all represent a kind of small bag. Are made of waterproof material more often camouflage coloring. They are fastened with a zipper. They have a stationary handle and a removable one - for carrying on the shoulder. In some models, a hook or carabiner is provided for attaching to a wall, a branch and so on. For convenience, internal pockets have tags with the name of the content. The main advantage that distinguishes an army vanity bag is its compactness.

The standard equipment includes 19 items of hygiene products for face care, hands, feet, a set for repairing clothes, a small towel, a mirror and a silicone glass assembly.

Kits for personal hygiene are given to the rank and file staff absolutely free of charge. It's unclear, however, how much content is enough. The needs and habits of all are different. It is interesting to know how the used will be replenished? For a personal account or from a budget?

What is provided in case of loss or damage to the bag and attachments? As always, there are a lot of questions. And while the generals decide, in case of emergency it is possible to try to make a military dressing-bag with your own hands.

To do this, you need a small piece of suitable fabric, an elastic band or a piece of tight tape, a thread with a needle or a sewing machine and a little patience.

The width of the fabric should be three times as long. The total size of the future product is determined depending on the number, volume and size of the items to be put.

The fabric is folded from the edges to the center, pockets are wasted. After that, you can fix the seams with an additional stitch along the contour. The filled dressing case is curled by a roll and is pulled together by an elastic band or fixed by rings from a braid. Primitive case for storing small items is ready.

The Russian soldier always differed sharpness. He could cook porridge from an ax, and use a fist instead of a pillow, and slapping soup with bread, and wash in a puddle, and wipe with a sleeve.

In the modern army, one does not need to show such cleverness for survival. The Ministry of Defense is making every effort to improve the life of servicemen, so that they are not distracted from the main tasks of protecting the Motherland.
