Strugatsky Arkady Natanovich. Biography of the writer
The capital of Adjara is proud of its talented son. In Batumi in 1925, a boy was born to Nathan Strugatsky and Natalia Litvincheva, who was named Arkady. My father worked as an editor of a large newspaper, and my mother was an honored teacher of the Russian language.
Almost until 1932, the family lived in Batumi, then Nathan Zalmanovich was sent by distribution to Leningrad. In 1933, his second son Boris was born. Birthday of Arkady Strugatsky on August 25, 1942 was not celebrated. At this time the city was already in blockade. Since the father had useful connections due to his profession, the Strugatsky family was decided to be one of the first to take the "road of life" to the Urals.
But little Boris was very sick, and the mother and youngest son remained in the besieged city. The 17th birthday of Arkady Strugatsky found in the village of Tashla, where he worked as the head of the purchase of products. By that time he had buried his father and dreamed of taking his mother out with his brother from Leningrad, which he managed only a year later. In 1943, when the boy was 18 years old, he was drafted into the Red Army.

Career writer
There are novels without co-authors. Under the pseudonym S. Yaroslavtsev, the "Expedition to the Underworld" (3 parts, 1974-1984), the tale of Nikita Vorontsov (1984), "The Devil among the People" (1993) and the unfinished novel of only 10 parts " Days of the Kraken "(1963).
Guy from the underworld
The plot for 1973 and the Soviet system was really non-trivial. On Earth, people of the future live in a social utopia. Justice and compassion are above all. With this mission they are watching the progress of foreign civilization, which is at the level of the 20th century. Wars, bloodshed, disease and cruelty dominate the planet of the Giant. For particularly dangerous tasks, they train "fighting cats".
Roots - one of the observers from Russia - rescues a young cadet of "cats" Gaga, wounded in battle, and brings him home for rehabilitation. The soldier, who was taught only to kill, overturns the world outlook. Gag tries to fight with obsession, clings to the familiar slogans of patriotism, runs home. But the grain of peace and pity has already sprouted in his soul.
Gag is the "guy from the underworld". Arkady Strugatsky became interested in the very fact of the external view of the Utopia of the "bright future". For the 20th century in the Soviet Union, this was an unacceptable luxury.

Between the lines
This was the period when for an anecdote in the kitchen sent to camps and prisons. But the writers, whose pen was moving real talent, could not remain silent. The protest against the system ruined a whole layer of gifted authors. The Strugatsky brothers found an original way out to their rebelliousness: fantasy. The censors did not read the meaning and did not take the Strugatskys' "tales" seriously. Thus, writers had an outlet to a thinking reader who saw between the lines the true meaning of the works.
