Architectural monuments of the world and Russia

The history of mankind leaves descendants with visible material reflections of bygone eras and civilizations. Of course, culture is not exhausted by material monuments. But little else says about the past with the same conviction as architectural monuments. Without them, it is impossible to imagine a culture of any ethnos that is noticeable in the history of mankind.

Through times and epochs

It is commonly believed that time is merciless in everything. Its action affects even on such strong natural materials as basalt and granite. Among other things, architectural monuments are also being destroyed. But any civil society considering itself is always concerned about their safety. The stone heritage of the past is carefully protected, and, if necessary, restored. Each nation has a symbolic architectural structure with a certain spiritual dimension. This is something more than a specially connected set of stones and plates.

Architecture and Tourism

In addition to unconditional cultural, historical and spiritual significance, architectural monuments also have a very concrete economic meaning. In order to join the heritage of history and culture and be photographed against the backdrop of ancient architecture, people are ready to travel very long distances and spend considerable money. Tourists prefer to leave their money in those countries, where ancient architectural monuments are abundant.

There are many countries for which tourism is one of the most important industries. There are states where, apart from tourism, there is simply no other economic life. Even attracting travelers are such developed countries of Europe as Italy, France or Spain. The most prosperous countries in the sphere of tourism are those that, apart from comfortable beach rest, are able to offer visitors an acquaintance with historical and architectural relics, carefully preserved and carefully restored.

World cultural space

Architectural monuments of the world are distributed unevenly across the planet. It would not be an exaggeration to say that most of them are concentrated in Europe and in close proximity to it. Very lucky in modern Egypt, on the territory of which was the architectural heritage of a unique irretrievably disappeared civilization. But in the greatest quantity architectural architectural monuments are concentrated in the cities of Italy. Over their creation for centuries worked for generations of craftsmen. To a certain extent, the same can be said about many large and small European cities. But the United States of America in this respect was much less fortunate: in their territory it is not so easy to find an architectural structure, the age of which would exceed two hundred years. But even in this country architectural monuments like and often imitate them, giving an old Gothic look to the buildings that were built not so long ago.

Protection of cultural heritage

The world cultural space, created for several millennia by human civilization, can not be imagined without material monuments, and above all without architectural heritage. His protection is the responsibility of all governments on whose territory the monuments were found at the mercy of historical circumstances. And such an international organization as UNESCO is dealing with this problem on a planetary scale. It carefully protects the most significant architectural monuments and does everything in order to preserve them for future generations.

Territory of Russia

The history of our country is most often described, beginning with Kievan Rus. But in the territory of the modern federation there are many artifacts from far more remote eras.

The architectural monuments of Russia are mainly concentrated on its European part - in two historical capitals and in the largest settlements of medieval Rus. In tourist life they are usually called the cities of the Golden Ring. Among them are Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Vladimir and Suzdal. Of course, the list of settlements with a large number of monuments of ancient architecture in the cities of the Golden Ring is not exhausted - they are many in the Urals, Siberia and the Far East.

The Heart of a Great State - Moscow

For more than eight and a half centuries of its existence, the Russian capital has experienced very much - fires, wars, revolutions and reconstruction. However, according to the total volume of cultural heritage, in terms of the number of monuments of history and architecture, Moscow does not have equal cities. The Moscow Kremlin and the architectural ensemble of the Red Square are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. A significant number of architectural monuments are located throughout the city and beyond. Outstanding works of Russian architecture are located in historical manor houses and ancient Orthodox monasteries. Unique architectural monuments are full of the most important part of the transport infrastructure of the capital - the Moscow Metro. Many of its stations without the slightest exaggeration can be attributed to the masterpieces of architecture.

St. Petersburg

The northern capital of Russia has a special destiny. It was originally conceived as something exceptional and completely unlike any of the cities that existed at that time in the country. The creation of a unique city attracted the best masters and architects of the era, as well as many serf bonded people who laid their lives on the foundation of the future capital of the Russian Empire. And this plan was carried out in full. Architectural monuments of St. Petersburg are known today in the entire civilized world. It is difficult to say whether Moscow is inferior to Moscow by their number of northern capital. But in order to get acquainted with the entire architectural heritage of the city on the Neva, there may not be enough of a lifetime, because it will take a lot to inspect - from the Winter Palace to Peterhof, from Pavlovsk and to Tsarskoe Selo. And in this there is nothing surprising - St. Petersburg from the first stones was built as an architectural monument.

Journey through the Volga

But in order to penetrate the cultural heritage of Russia, acquaintance with the architectural monuments of both its historical capitals is not enough. For this, it makes sense also to make a leisurely trip down the Volga - from Yaroslavl to Astrakhan. On the way, there will be such unlike cities as Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Saratov. The architectural heritage of each of them deserves attention. Very vivid impression left by ancient kremlin on high Volga slopes in Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan. In addition to the large cities on the Volga, there are lesser known, but very significant in Russian culture provincial historical settlements, such as Plyos and Myshkin. There are architectural monuments, in antiquity, not inferior to widely known tourist attractions.
