Transport infrastructure of Russia and prospects of its development

Transport infrastructure is a complex complex, which includes all types of transport: sea, rail, road, pipeline and river. It provides the exchange of goods and services and even helps people to see new places (and get to know new people). The transport infrastructure of Russia is of strategic importance for the functioning of the country as a whole and its individual regions; therefore, in April 2013, the program of its development until 2020 was revised. It examines the advantages and disadvantages of each individual means of moving cargo and passengers, on the basis of which the scope of its application in the national economy is planned.

Transport infrastructure is an industry that, according to Oleg Belozerov, the Minister of Transport of Russia, suffers chronic underfunding, therefore, it simply can not have any reserves of sustainability in our hard times. Nevertheless, it is on this basis that the development of the economy in difficult circumstances depends on entering the Common Economic Space and accession to the World Trade Organization. And the transport infrastructure of the country (more than ever) needs an integrated and planned development that could bring all branches of the national economy to a whole new level. The main goal today is to ensure synchronization and balance of measures for its modernization. It is equally important to create a unified system for monitoring the implementation of program tasks.

As already mentioned above, the transport infrastructure and each of its separate elements have their own characteristics, which must be taken into account when choosing an effective means of transporting a particular cargo. For example, rail transport is cheaper than others, but it requires a lot of capital investment at the initial stage (to build a path for trains). But the transport system does not consist of only one element. There is also sea transport, which has the highest throughput and low cost, but depends heavily on navigation and geographical conditions. But the river is used most often for internal transportation (due to seasonality of its operation and low speed of movement of goods, which it provides). With regard to road transport, it is most rational to implement them only for short distances. In addition, the condition of the pavement in Russia leaves much to be desired. As far as air transport is concerned, today it is too much fun to transport with it. Therefore, despite the extremely high speed of delivery, it remains one of the most unpopular means of moving goods over long distances.

Each firm independently solves the question of which type of transport is the most rational in its activities. Often a lot depends on this decision in its further destiny, because ensuring profitability is the main goal for any business entity.
