Arbidol - instructions for use

Arbidol, the instruction of which is given here, is available in yellow capsules. Each of the capsules of this preparation contains a powder, the color of which can vary from white to greenish-yellow or cream shades.

Composition

Active substance:

  • Methylphenylthiomethyl-dimethylaminomethyl-hydroxybromoindole carboxylic acid ethyl ester 50/100 mg (in 1 capsule of preparation No. 3 and No. 1, respectively).

Excipients:

  • Colloidal silicon dioxide ;
  • potato starch;
  • Crospovidone;
  • Calcium stearate.

Pharmacological action of the drug arbidol

The instruction says that arbidol belongs to antiviral drugs, as well as to the group of immunomodulators. The drug has an antiviral effect, including antiviral effects are manifested against influenza A and B, and against ARVI.

The mechanism of the drug is the following - by inhibiting the lipid membrane compound together with the cell membrane, the drug prevents the virus from entering the cells. In addition, arbidol induces interferon, thereby stimulating humoral and cellular immunity, and it also enhances phagocytic effects of macrophages and increases the body's overall ability to resist infection.

Arbidol is able to reduce the incidence of complications that cause viral and bacterial infections. Its therapeutic effectiveness is manifested, first of all, in the ability to reduce the general intoxication of the body and to remove clinical manifestations of the disease, thereby significantly reducing the duration of the disease, all thanks to the drug arbidol. Pharmacokinetics

Arbidol quickly sucks in tissues and organs, its maximum concentration in the blood comes about an hour later.

Metabolized arbidol, as well as most other drugs, in the liver, its half-life is about 20 hours. The drug is excreted through bile (about 38%) and through the kidneys (less than 0.2%), with 40% of the total amount of the drug being excreted unchanged. About 90% of the total dose is taken within one day.

Indications for the treatment and prevention of arbidol

The way of using the drug is oral, it must be taken only on an empty stomach. Arbidol is suitable not only for the treatment of diseases, but for different degrees of prevention, for example, it is possible to use different doses of the drug for general prevention of the disease or for its prevention after contact with an infected patient.

The drug is not recommended for children under 2 years old.
