Amber is an invaluable substance?

What is amber? Previously, people who found pieces of ambergris on the coasts believed that it was the saliva of a dragon or some mythical creature. In fact, amber is a substance that is formed in the intestine of a sperm whale and is thrown out of the body after eating tons of fish and plankton. The more it stays in the water, the better its flavor. But fresh ambergris is a sharp smell already by the order of the spoiled fish.

The basis of the perfume industry ?

Amber is used in perfumery. It looks like an irregular shape with a lot of lumps of dark gray color. Amber composition of 60-85% consists of an amine (a substance that is close in composition to cholesterol). Immediately after collection, it is soaked in alcohol, and after 3-6 years it becomes one of the components of the perfume composition, which has the most unusual flavor. It was also actively used and used for culinary purposes (as a spice), in medical (with the help of such diseases as asthma, typhoid, epilepsy). What smell is amber? This substance initially has the smell of stale fish, and after years acquires a tar-and-tobacco musk aroma with a light marine barely perceptible trail. In perfume compositions it is used not as a perfume, but as the main attractive and persistent element - an aphrodisiac. From history it is known that the most popular seducers always carried a piece of amber, which helps them attract women's interest and foment passion. A remarkable property of this substance is the ability to give firmness to any spirits. It's hard to imagine that one-tenth of a drop of such perfume will be enough to keep the fragrance for about a day. This can be achieved due to the fact that approximately 70% of ambergris consists of compounds that fix the aroma on the skin and slow its disappearance.

Second gold

Currently, almost all the mined amber is bought up by perfumery companies to create perfumes and oils. The uniqueness and value of this fragrant substance is commensurate with the price of gold, so some perfume producers synthesize the ambience artificially, but there are also companies in whose fragrances there is real, natural amber. Below are some of the spirits that make up this substance: "Opium" from Yves Saint Laurent (1977), "Dune" from Christian Dior (1991), "Givenchy" L'Interditde Givenchy (1957).

On the basis of ambergris are also created oils that have a beneficial effect on the skin, soothing and giving sensuality. Amber oil is at the same time skin care, lifting, correction and a positive effect on the body as a whole. In medicine amber is used to normalize the work of the gastrointestinal tract, to eliminate convulsions, the stable work of the nervous system, and senile dementia. It is used to create a homeopathic drug Amber 30. However, this is already a topic of a completely different material. It is possible to enumerate endlessly useful properties of sea substance, but still amber, mainly, finds its use in perfumery. The average world annual production of such raw materials is tens of kilograms, and the cost of one kilogram reaches 600-800 US dollars.
