In the eastern part of the Crimea there is the Kerch Peninsula. It is quite large: in the direction from the west to the east has a length of 90 km, and from north to south - up to 50 km. Its area reaches almost 3 thousand square meters. Km. It is here that the lake of interest Aktash is located. The photos, which are in the article, reflect the uniqueness of this reservoir.

On the world map of the lake. Aktash can be found at the following coordinates: 45 ° 22'31 "North and 35 ° 49'45" East longitude. Apparently, the reservoir is located in the northern part of the peninsula. Administratively refers to the Leninsky district. It is a salty, drying reservoir.

Hydronym

There are many names at the pond - Al-Il, Aktash, Alilskoe. In the 1980s, during the construction of the nuclear power plant, numerous dams and dams were built, thanks to which there was a merger of small reservoirs into one. So the lake Aktashskoe was formed. The name was given by the largest of them.

In order to understand what this word means, one must turn to the Crimean-Tatar language. In a literal translation, this sounds like "white stone" ("ak" - "white", "tash" - "stone"). There is also a similar word in the Turkic language. It means "bitter-salty".

Characteristic

Aktash Lake is the 4th largest water body in the whole Crimean peninsula. It is drainless and salty. It is separated from the Sea of Azov by a clay-sandy overflow. It is located between Feodosia and Kerch. If we consider the distance between these cities, then the pond is practically in the middle.

The average depth of this liman lake is 2 m (it is shallow). And the area of the water mirror is about 26 km 2 . Basically, the Aktash lake feeds on the underground waters of the Black Sea artesian basin. If you look from a bird's eye view, you can clearly see the elongated form from the north-east to south-west. It has a length of about 8 km, and a width of about 3 km.

Features

The perepoon, which separates the lake from the sea, has a different width. It varies between 0.7 and 1.4 km. It is believed that Aktash once was one with Azov, and later separated. On the shore of the reservoir in the north-western part is the Kara-Burun Upland. Along their joint boundary, limestones of the Sarmatian stage are laid. And along the southern and eastern parts of the coast are red-brown clays and loam.

In the northern part of the peninsula - Duck, Middle and Ezhovy. And in the center of the pond there is a small island called Latau, which rises only 0.5 m above sea level.

Flora and fauna

Aktash Lake (Crimea) is an amazing natural structure. It must be protected and not allowed to dry completely, not only for the benefit of the population living on its coasts, but also in the region's flora and fauna. There are many birds here, such as seagulls, cormorants, herons, storks and others. Therefore, with the onset of the spring season on the lake is very noisy.

In addition to nesting birds, which number about 30 species, small rodents and foxes live in this area. Since the Aktash lake has an aboriginal origin, here, accordingly, there are also limann worms (their presence in this region is very convenient for lovers of fishing). A little further from the coastline grow trees: pine, elm, acacia.

How to get there

Prior to Lake Aktash, there is no city transport, and therefore you can get there only by your own car or by taxi. To do this, you must first reach the bus station of the central capital of the Kerch Peninsula, for example, on the same highway or Simferopol, the main thing is to choose the right direction. The distance to the water body is not close, about 170 km. Overcome it by car can be approximately 5 hours. At the end of this route you will see a whitish shoreline from the salt and the Aktash lake itself.
