When to do this?

Beginners often ask themselves: When is the VAZ-2106 clutch adjusted? The clutch drive is arranged in such a way that the pedal is free. So, in norm it makes from 0,4 to 2 millimeters. If there is a large play of the pedal and noticeable "dips", then the settings of the element have lost. The car needs a repeated adjustment of the clutch. VAZ-2106 will not work correctly. In this case, we will expose the gap from the car interior, directly on the pedal itself. A special bracket will be installed here. On the latter there is a pusher of the master cylinder of coupling and a nut. Thanks to them and the necessary clearance between the two elements (pusher and clutch cylinder) is exposed.

Note that from the passenger compartment you can set only the initial course of the pedal. If the gap corresponds to two or less millimeters, we proceed to setting the backlash from the bottom of the car.

Now we need to set the fork pusher stroke. It is adjustable up to 5 millimeters. Use a wrench to hold the travel stop. We loosen the locknut for two turns. Then rotate the spanner with a wrench in the direction of the bracket. We select the necessary clearance by a selective way. After that, again hold the stop and tighten the lock nut back. We take the ruler in hand and measure the pedal travel gap. To do this, press the hand on the clutch pedal until there is no apparent resistance. Measure how far the fork is moved. If necessary, put the gap again.

Adjust the pusher of the working cylinder

Adjust the optimal stroke of the pedal by adjusting not only the main clutch, but also the clutch slave cylinder.

To do this, disconnect the tension spring from the clutch release fork. We need this in order to reduce the resistance when adjusting. Next, set the ruler so that it rests against the end of the element. Then, with your hand to the stop, press the clutch fork. We fix it in the squeezed position. We remember how the fork is located relative to our ruler, and measure the free stroke.

Go to the very adjustment of the working cylinder. Since the element is under the bottom, it may have traces of dirt and corrosion. To unscrew the desired nut, use VD-40 or its analog from the manufacturer "Mannol". You need to unscrew two keys. One hold the adjusting bolt, the second weaken the lock nut of the clutch slave cylinder. Fix the pusher so that it does not turn. We regulate the free running of the element. We tighten the lock nut and install the spring into place. We check the operation of the system. Free turn should be normalized.

We change the clutch by our own hands without removing the transmission

Sometimes the exposure can not achieve the desired result. In this case, only the replacement of the clutch on the VAZ-2106 will help. Without removing the box, this is quite possible. So, where does the work begin? First, unscrew the cardan drive bolts and the shaft itself. Then disconnect the contacts from the reverse indication sensor. Twist the clutch cover bolts. Dismantle the traverse of the bottom. With the thirteen key, unscrew the cushion mounting cushion nuts. The transmission itself is pushed aside, opposite to the engine, with the help of the mount. As a result, the box should lie on the exhaust pipe of the exhaust system. To the unit does not sag and does not jump off when replacing the clutch, support it.

What next?

At the next stage we have to remove the clutch basket. To do this, fix the position of the flywheel (you can use the mount) and unscrew the bolts of the basket one by one. You will need a key for thirteen (to speed up the process, use a head with ratchet collar). Carefully push the unscrewed basket aside and take out the worn clutch disc. Also we need to take out the clutch release bearing of the input shaft and the clutch release fork. Next, we only need to replace worn out items and collect everything in reverse order. Note that with the clutch survivability, the shaft bearing must not make noise. If there is such a symptom, the element changes to a new one. On the drive itself, there should be no traces of carbon deposits (otherwise it is a burnt clutch).

The petals of the basket are also checked. If they stand unevenly relative to each other, the element must be replaced. Pay attention to the working surface of the basket. It should not have scratches and other deformation marks.
