How does the clutch plate work?

With a smooth start-up under the action of springs, the pressure plate is rubbed against the slave. The car starts to move when both these discs are attached, that is, they have touched and began to rotate in one direction. In the clutch device there can be as one slave drive, and two; They are called, respectively, single-disk and two-disk. So, the first ones are mainly used for passenger transport, for trucks with small payloads, as well as for commercial vehicles and buses. They have the simplest device and low price, reliable and compact, while they have high wear resistance; They are simply serviced, dismantled and repaired. Most of the domestic cars are equipped with so-called dry friction clutches. In their device is allocated a group of parts, which carries out the inclusion, detachment and clutch drive. So, the inclusion occurs under the influence of the action of the springs, whereas the shutdown occurs by overcoming this force when the pedal is depressed. Friction clutches, depending on the type of springs, are different. The main difference is in the springs themselves. In the clutch they can be peripheral, as well as diaphragm. A more common type of clutch is for mechanical transmissions installed on modern cars: with a diaphragm spring. As for the double-disk clutch, they are widely used in trucks, because due to the large mass of the vehicle, it is necessary to increase the surface area of the friction, while leaving the external dimensions of the clutch unchanged.

The order of replacement of clutch units:

  1. The clutch assembly is dismantled.
  2. Inspected friction surfaces near the flywheel, clutch discs, draws attention to the signs of wear, scratches.
  3. In case of detection of wear, the following components are replaced: flywheel, clutch discs , clutch .
  4. The clutch is installed. The pressure plate must be mounted on the flywheel, bolted; To the press the driven disc is drawn by its protruding part.
  5. If properly installed, the coupling must rotate freely. All necessary parts must be lubricated.
