Acrylic primer - protection for wood

Acrylic primer is one of the main components for finishing almost any type of material. It is used for leveling the surface and for improving the adhesion to the main coating. The universal primer is treated with plaster, concrete, putty, metal and wooden surfaces. Acrylic primer perfectly fills the pores of the material, binds the smallest particles of dust, penetrating deeply and impregnating the upper layers.

Types of acrylic primers:

  1. Firming. It acts only on the surface of the material, glues the particles without penetrating into the inner layers.
  2. Penetrating. Strengthens the top layer, penetrates deeper to 10 cm, treating the entire volume of the substrate.

Acrylic primer in its technical characteristics is almost universal tool for the treatment of various surfaces. It can be used on bases covered with old paint, and treat corrosive metal surfaces. Such a coating perfectly withstand any atmospheric differences. Acrylic primer, applied even in one layer, is able to color any contrasting surface of the base. The coating has a very elastic texture and is applied without much difficulty.

The composition of the acrylic primer is organosoluble or water-soluble. The primers made from organic solvents are often used in the so-called facade works. They are better able to cope with weather changes, are resistant to all kinds of pollution and to harmful microflora. Water-soluble primers are more environmentally friendly and have practically no sharp odor. After treatment with such a coating, the base remains breathable, perfectly passing air. Such a primer can be used for internal preparatory work without fear of harmful effects on the human body.

Acrylic primer for wood helps with further grinding of the pile surface of the base and prepares for surface finishing. Water-soluble primer will significantly reduce the consumption of varnish or paint and increase the operating time, create a coating of a more even color texture.

To date, the market is filled with acrylic primers of various manufacturers, both domestic and foreign. It is presented in various price categories, therefore each buyer will be able to choose the product suitable for specific purposes.

But, regardless of future work, the primer should be carefully selected according to technical characteristics and properties, as this will directly determine the quality and appearance of the finish finish. An obligatory condition for an excellent result is also the fact that the primer and paint should be selected only on the same basis. For example, if you use a water-based acrylic primer when preparing the surface of the base, then the paint should be only water-soluble, respectively, when using an organosoluble soil, paint with the same composition is needed.
