Yellow candles of gardens - buzulnik Przhevalsky

In the gardens of flower growers-lovers of Russia, a very unpretentious perennial herb is very common-Przewalski's buzulnik. It is a flower that does not require special care (from the category of "planted and forgotten"). It reaches a height of one and a half to two meters and very often serves as a cover, a screen from cold drafts for other, shallower and whimsical plants growing on flower beds. In addition, it is often used to decorate the unsightly corners of the garden. Buzulnik Przheval'skogo, home to which are China and Mongolia, is named after the Russian naturalist, traveler Nikolai Przhevalsky. This is a perennial plant of the family of the Astropeus, or Complex. In Russia, one more name of this plant is used: ligularia, which in Latin means "tongue" (in the shape of petals of the inflorescence).

Description

The leaves of the buzulnik are sharp-pointed, very beautiful. They reach 50 cm in diameter, but they remain rather elegant. The plant grows rapidly, from the rounded leaves in a short time, real thickets are formed, of which long red-brown petioles stick out. On them are located yellow inflorescences, in shape resembling candles and reaching up to 70 cm in height. The Tsveta buzulnik, the photo of which you see above, begins very early - at the end of June and keeps buds for a month. The time of flowering depends on the weather, which will be established for the summer period. Considering that Przhevalsky's budzulnik is a shade plant that loves moisture, in a damp cool summer this flower will please you with its bright, sunny flowers for more than two months, until September. Due to the fact that the lower flowers begin directly from the foliage, and the flowering is very abundant, this plant can quite compete with even more vivid and catchy whimsical colors. In other words, if you do not have time to care for the flower garden, but you want to keep its eye-catching appearance, your way out is Przewalski's buzulnik.

Planting and care

This plant multiplies by dividing the bush and sowing seeds, which quite mature in the summer. The bush is divided early in the spring, and it does not affect the development of the plant at all, but it is fortunate that in the first year the selected plant with a weak root system will be characterized by the scarcity of the leaves and some crudeness. The seeds of the buzulnik are planted in late autumn "under the snow" next to the parental bush, as the leaves are an excellent cover material - under them the young shoots are well established. By the way, often this property of the plant is used for rooting some other garden flowers and plants, for example, such as phlox. It is worth considering that flowers multiplied from seeds will begin to bloom only for 3-4 years after sowing. Przewalski's Buzulnik is rarely affected by pests, but in spring its leaves are sometimes eaten by slugs. Even more rarely the plant is affected by powdery mildew. Fight pests with standard methods.
