Wooden hothouse with their own hands. How to build a greenhouse quickly and efficiently
When there is a greenhouse in the villa area, it is definitely nice, and especially if a wooden hothouse is built by oneself. And it's not about saving money. Just such buildings are built for themselves. Therefore, all work is carried out in the best possible way, with love.
But when there is a question about the construction of a greenhouse, immediately there is a mass of others accompanying. For example, where to install a greenhouse, what material to choose, which of the designs is the best?
Greenhouse constructions
A greenhouse or a greenhouse is of a very different design. Let's look at each of them separately, determine the advantages and disadvantages.
Arched homemade greenhouses
Here the roof is made in the form of an arc. So plants can receive a large amount of light. This is due to the fact that the sun's rays are scattered on the surface. The plants receive the necessary heat and light. In the winter, such a greenhouse arched does not suffer from snowfalls, therefore such a construction does not bear the risk of collapse or deformation.
Saddle type
Such greenhouses are usually built on one side to the capital structure. For example, to the wall of the house. Some of the gardeners-lovers attach these structures to the southern walls. Such a greenhouse is inexpensive, and also allows you to save a lot of space on the site.
If the premise, to which will adjoin a one-pitch wooden hothouse, made by own hands, is equipped with heating, this is a huge plus for the gardener. So you can save a lot on resources to heat the greenhouse. However, the disadvantage is that in the winter season, snow will not fall from the roof of such a structure. Therefore, you need to regularly clean the roof of this building.
Gable construction
This is probably the most common and popular type of such buildings. Here the roof is decorated in the usual way. One of the maximum advantages that such greenhouses have is the scope and freedom for plants and directly for the gardener.
Many lovers of summer rest equip the heifers for giving some recreation areas. So you can combine useful and enjoyable while relaxing on the country side.
Winter summer
If the hotbeds are actively used and in the winter period of time, then necessarily consider the way of heating this useful structure. You can arrange a place for a greenhouse near to pipes and batteries. However, some prefer to equip the structure with separate stove heating. But in most cases, this is unnecessary worries and worries. Behind the stove must be constantly monitored, because the plants do not like too much temperature changes.
If you need winter greenhouses to give, then you need a reliable base for them. The greenhouse should be installed on a solid foundation, and the roof of such a structure should be well reinforced. In winter, under the snow, the structure can easily be crumpled. And more often and simply the roof is easily destroyed.
Also some build so-called thermoses. This building is buried in the ground about two meters. Naturally, for such a hotbed it is necessary to excavate a pit, to make a reliable foundation. Many make special walls from a fuser, they heat such constructions, then organize heating. This process is quite time-consuming, as well as expensive. Therefore, a wooden hothouse, made by its own hands on this principle, is a rather rare construction. Much more common than hotbeds for summer.
Summer edition
If the winter variant is laborious and expensive, then the summer is a cheaper, yet reliable and practical solution. This is one of the simplest and inexpensive greenhouses. The frame can be made without special skills from wood or timber. If you use this design carefully, then the building can stand for several seasons.
As the skin is an ordinary polyethylene film for greenhouses. It can be purchased at most hardware stores or markets in your city. In winter, it is removed, and in the spring it is again easily and naturally stretched on a wooden frame. You can fasten the film with conventional nails.
If for some reason you do not have the opportunity to make a frame for such a construction of wood, then you can use plastic water pipes.
The construction of this structure does not require any serious skills.
Wood as the main building material
It has a lot of advantages. A wooden frame for a greenhouse is easy to assemble from a bar with your own hands. Such material has high strength. Also it is the most environmentally friendly among all others. The beams can be purchased in any workshop or on the market. Wood is less durable than metal, but if properly processed, it can serve a very serious time.
In order to build a greenhouse, do not need expensive timber. One of the main requirements is quality, drying, absence of any defects and knots.
The only drawback - the material must be treated with special compounds to protect it from mold, fungi, rot.
How to build a wooden greenhouse yourself? The process of building a summer garden does not take much time from you. With a certain amount of desire, as well as with minimal skills in working with wood, you can build a quality greenhouse within a very short time. So, our construction will be erected in several stages.
Prepare a place
First of all, decide on the place where the building will be located in the future. It should be as flat as possible. It is desirable that it is located in an open space. You also need to choose a place under the sun.
After you have decided on the place, you need to do the leveling of the land. After a while, check the evenness of the soil with a level.
If a hotbed with heating is planned, then it is necessary to start laying the communications for heating now.
Dimensions and shape of future construction
The area that our greenhouse will occupy depends on the size of the land plot, the plants that will be grown, and also on the financial possibilities.
It is necessary to know that, for example, an arched greenhouse of a large area does not provide much benefit. The fact is that it is not recommended to plant plants in one greenhouse that have very different characteristics. If to speak easier, it will not turn out to grow tomatoes with cucumbers in one greenhouse.
A comfortable area is considered to be about 3 * 6 m. So it will not take up too much space on the site. And the harvest that can be harvested is more than enough for the whole family.
To make a wooden hothouse, the drawing must be well studied and thought through all the nuances. There are a lot of different designs, but the most popular is an ordinary greenhouse with a gable roof. This design is easy to sheathe. You can use both film and other materials. To save on materials, we cut the walls at the level of planting with wood panels.
Create a foundation
The main requirements that can be presented to the foundation under the greenhouse are strength, as well as stability and, of course, reliability. There are many options for its arrangement. The cheapest and especially practical is the strip foundation.
To create it, you need to dig a ditch along the perimeter of the future structure. It should be 15 cm deep. If the ground is soft enough, you should use a timbering from the same wood. Then you need to check the site for horizontality. Then fill the ditch with concrete.
After this, 12 mm anchor bolts should be mounted from all sides and at the ends. Make sure that they match the frame as much as possible.
Now you can rest for a few days, and at the same time and wait until the foundation dries. When the ground is sufficiently frozen, it is necessary to lay bricks on top of the site in several rows. Pay attention to the seams between the bricks coincide with the bolts. Then you need to cover a layer of bricks with some waterproofing.
Building a frame
At this stage, our greenhouse will receive a skeleton. In order for this to happen as quickly as possible, it is necessary to cut the previously prepared bar and fasten it with a bracket for the corners. So we got the ground. Now we make the installation on a ready basis. Soon the greenhouse of the wooden beam will be ready.
Before mounting the frame to the base, it is desirable to attach a wide supporting bar to our foundation or foundation. It is on it will be attached to the board. Elements should be fixed using corners or any bolts. It is also possible to use reinforcement here. Before carrying out the installation of the supporting bar, it is desirable to conduct its treatment with protective means.
After these works, you can proceed to fixing our framework for the frame around the perimeter. So, you need to check that the base is as solid as possible. Places, where the elements will be connected, should fit tightly to each other.
Here already the basis is mounted. Now it's time to do the rest of the frame. Here it is necessary to connect the cut boards according to the drawing.
Further it is necessary to organize the organization of the windows, window frames, and also to install lags and roofing. The installation of these elements can be carried out in any accessible way.
We sew the structure
When the frame is completely ready, you can rest a little more. And after the rest you can proceed to the plating. You can use different materials for plating. Wooden hothouses under the film are no different from the greenhouses under glass or polycarbonate. Let's consider each material separately.
Polyethylene is the most economical version of the material for greenhouse cladding. It has one drawback - it's a fairly short service life. Polyethylene will serve a maximum of one season. The material is good in summer. In snowy winters, it must be removed, otherwise it will break under the weight of the snow. Also under it, the material fades and poorly passes light, and this adversely affects the growth of vegetable crops. Polyeliten will have to be changed every year. Thus, the film for greenhouses as a skin will not allow for early planting of vegetables. Besides all this, the material does not allow to create and maintain the correct temperature regime inside the hotbed. In hot weather, the crops will be very hot, and on cool nights the vegetables will freeze.
However, if only polyethylene is available for you, then we trim the structure consistently. You need to start work on one side of the structure, then go to the other through the roof slopes. Carry out fixation on the frame is also better in a certain sequence. Perfect for these purposes are slats of wood. To prevent the film from tearing, it is better to make special visors on the corners of the roof.
Glass is a more durable and reliable option. It perfectly passes light, it can maintain the correct temperature regime. The earth in glass hotbeds is very warm. Such a design will be chic for the early planting of vegetable crops. But at the same time, the covering of the greenhouse with glass is an expensive decision. Special skills are needed here. Also, it should not be used on sites that are not protected by anyone. In most cases 4 mm glass for windows is used for greenhouses. There are also special options designed only for use in greenhouses.
If the glass and the film are not relevant to you, then from this situation there is a modern way out. This is polycarbonate. The wooden hothouse for polycarbonate does not have any significant differences from the film version. This is a fairly light material, which does not require a reinforced frame. It will cost much less than glass. The service life of polycarbonate is more than 15 years. Therefore, it is optimal. The material perfectly passes the sunlight, and also maintains the correct temperature regime inside. Also, this skin allows you to safely protect plants from ultraviolet radiation. The material has a very light weight, but also has a high enough strength. At the same time, it can be perfectly cut with an ordinary knife.
Polycarbonate does not lose its advantages even in severe Russian frosts. Montaž polycarbonate lends itself easily, in the care it is even easier. Greenhouses made of polycarbonate (wooden frame) are clad with special screws. If the base of the greenhouse is flat, then there will be no problems. In the shortest time you can use it.
We equip the greenhouse
Now that the construction work is finished, you can go to the arrangement of our greenhouse. To do this, you need to make sure there are no slots, and if they are, they need to be removed. Next, you need to install heating systems and carry out lighting. It is also necessary to organize a water supply system for watering plants. Very important and supply ventilation.
Well, now, when the wooden hothouse is completely made with your own hands, you can determine what kind of vegetable cultures you grow in it. Perhaps, thanks to this article, someone will build a greenhouse and will enjoy the juicy greenhouse cucumbers in the spring.
So, we found out how the greenhouses are made for the dacha with their own hands. As you can see, the work is not so complicated - it is enough to have the necessary set of tools and a detailed sketch of the future structure.
