Why is the laptop turned off and what should I do?

It happens that the laptop suddenly turns off during operation. Why is the laptop turned off and what should I do?

Reasons for disconnecting the laptop can be hardware and software. It can be turned off when running on battery power or when running from electricity.

If the laptop turns off while it is running on battery power, it is most likely the cause of the failure of the latter, and should be replaced.

The main reasons for the self-shutdown of the laptop running from the mains are: equipment overheating, motherboard crack, connector oxidation, poor contact soldering.

In 90% of cases the laptop turns off due to overheating. A working laptop gives off a lot of heat, especially during resource-intensive games and when watching movies of high quality. As you know, the cooling system is not the strongest place in the laptop, in the case of which there is simply no space for powerful fans. Overheating may occur due to malfunctioning ventilation. The laptop overheats if the air exchange holes are clogged with dust or closed during operation by foreign objects. Ventilation holes usually close when working on soft surfaces: a blanket, a pillow, a carpet.

Determine the overheating is very easy - the laptop is too hot, ventilation is noisier than usual, constant "slowdown" and "squares" in games, the CPU utilization is approaching 100%. When this mark is reached, the overheat protection system is activated and the notebook is turned off. Constant overheating of the laptop entails the failure of its various parts. Most often flakes from the video chip card.

In case of overheating, it may be necessary to repair the cooling system: dust removal, thermal paste replacement, fan cleaning and lubrication. If the fan is defective, it must be replaced.

Another reason that turns off the laptop is a crack on the motherboard. This is typical for old laptops or in the case of its active operation and non-lean relationship. Such cracks on the motherboard may occur if the laptop is dropped or hit. Microcracks may not immediately affect the operation of the equipment, but as a result of unavoidable heating and cooling, they will become wider and the laptop will shut down. The problem is solved by replacing the motherboard. Replacement of the motherboard is quite expensive, which is not always justified.

The notebook turns off due to the oxidation of a connector. This defect is caused by improper operation of the equipment. For example, use at inadmissible temperatures or the inclusion in a warm room of a laptop just brought from a frost. To solve the problem, it is necessary to solder or replace the connector.

And one more possible reason for turning off the laptop is poor-quality contacts. Such a defect occurs on low-cost models and laptops, which have long and been actively exploited.

The laptop also turns off for software reasons.

This can happen because of antiviruses that consume a lot of resources, especially when scanning files or disks, loading the processor 100%. The problem is solved by disabling some of the anti-virus functions and enabling scanning only on demand.

The next program reason is malicious and incorrect programs, leading to a "hang", which loads the processor 100%. This protects against overheating and the notebook turns off. It is required to get rid of viruses and to remove incorrectly written programs.

The reason for turning off the laptop may be an operating system error, incompatible programs, errors in programs.

The spontaneous switching-off of the laptop happens at malfunction of the built in and outwardly connected equipment.
