What is a story: a fairy tale about reality or an invention for the sake of art?

Surprisingly, but few people who are interested in literature and versed in its genres, know what is true. The word itself evokes quite existential associations, but certainly is not regarded as a literary term. Strangely enough, byl is really a genre of literature related to prose and denoting any story about events that supposedly took place in reality.

Byl il fiction?

The main difference from the story was that the first one is most often retold verbally, and the second spreads on paper. You can explain what is true, with the help of the opposite term - fiction. When a person tells "fiction" or "fiction", it simply means that he is lying, and this lie is quite obvious. This can be expressed in a clear exaggeration or understatement, attributing some unusual properties to personalities or objects, and so on. At the same time, both companions perfectly understand that fiction is untrue, and therefore the function of such a story is more entertaining than cognitive.

A fairy tale is a lie, but in it a hint

Not even every teacher of literature in a higher educational institution will tell you what is true. The problem is not only that their preparation is not so good, but also in itself such a term is used extremely rarely. For example, for a student who knows from childhood what a fairy tale is, "life" can be associated only with something old-fashioned and long out of use in modern language. One of the synonyms of this term is "byvalshchina" - also sounds extremely old-fashioned. This is something that is transmitted word of mouth in the villages, often in a whisper or by candlelight. And often such here are epics have a mystical connotation, that is, they talk about the actions of supernatural forces and are connected with the Devil's machinations. God-fearing people do not even listen to such "epic" here, preferring simply to cross themselves a few times and reread the Psalter. But among the village youth, the retelling of the ravines is a frequent occurrence.

Who composes and believes in bylinas

To understand what is true is very easy, if you become acquainted with literature older than the 20th century. For example, a variety of stories about brownies, mermaids, forest spirits and other "evil spirits" in which the protagonist allegedly saw with their own eyes their tricks - these are the epics that feed the children before going to bed or in order to make them obey. Of course, for a modern person, all this is nothing more than the costs of mythology and the remnants of the past. But for people who still feel the "authentic" breath of past centuries, these epics are a real treasure. It's also the fact that very often such fairy tales are the only thing that helps at least somehow to entertain the village youth. They are ideal for meeting at the fire, where the worst thing that can threaten the company - it's fierce mosquitoes and mites in the grass. Telling each other about encounters with evil spirits that supposedly happened to them, or to their relatives, they feel a real adrenaline. So it can be said that byl is a kind of attraction for residents of areas remote from civilization.

Modern life for progressive people

It's not at all news that the epics have long been out of fashion, and stories of a different format have come to their place. In the camps, this practice is still being carried out, but every year its intensity decreases. Of course, in our time, the past also exists, simply called a little differently. For example, in some sources one can find so-called "kripipasty", that is, terrible stories that supposedly also took place in real life. Some readers believe the authors, some continue to treat them with a sane share of skepticism. However, they still perform their "frightening" function, so modern users still imagine what the reality is. Definition of it, of course, slightly modified, but the essence has not changed. People at all times wanted to tickle their nerves, and byl, whatever it was called, does just that.
