"The Bridegroom": Sergei Paratov, description

It should be noted that AN Ostrovsky created his famous play "The Dowry" for four whole years. Its premiere performance was held at the Moscow Maly Theater on November 10, 1878. He was eagerly awaited, many fans of Russian drama gathered, including FM Dostoyevsky himself. But, the most mysterious, the production was not successful either by critics or the viewer - the glory came to the author after his death. The audience felt that the plot about the stupid, seductive girl was not at all new, and the actors' play, she thought, also left much to be desired.

Paratov: the characteristic ("The Dowry", AN Ostrovsky)

However, the history of the creation of this play is also very surprising, because at that time Ostrovsky was the judge of the Kineshma Uyezd, and he took many topics for his works from the resonant criminal cases with which he sometimes had to face. Once the whole county stirred up the murder: the local Konovalov killed his wife.

In this play, poor Karandyshev really killed his bride Larissa because of jealousy. However, it was the master of the Paratov who became the murderer, though not directly, but indirectly, the most sophisticated and cruel. The characterization of it in the future will not be presented in the best possible form. And yet we need to deal with this story in detail and find out who he really was.

Buy Sell

Certainly, Sergey Sergeevich Paratov became one of the most brilliant protagonists of the play. His characteristic shows that it was a spectacular young gentleman from the shipowners, about thirty years old. This rich man lived mostly just for the sake of gain, and this was the main goal of his life. If he is in the business, he is ready to sell everything that will bring him profit. He himself admits that he does not have feelings of pity, and there is nothing treasured for him. In a conversation with Mokiy Parmenic he admits: "I'll find a profit, I'll sell everything, anything." Now he is ready to marry a very rich girl and take a gold mine in a dowry.

The "pious" master

For the first time this hero appears in the fifth act of the first act. The citation of Paratov indicates that he was wearing a tight black one-breasted coat, he had lacquered boots on his legs , a white cap and a travel bag over his shoulder on his head. He watches his appearance, while maintaining a noble and noble hold.

However, despite the fact that he is a gentleman, he allows himself to communicate on an equal footing, for example, with the owner of a coffee house, a servant, etc. Paratov is a very generous person. When Ivan rushed to Paratov, to sweep him with a broom, he paid him a whole ruble for this service.

Joker and merry fellow

Paratov (the characteristic of which marks him as a very sociable person and even a joker) could speak with proverbs peculiar to popular speech. Sergei Sergeevich appreciates the freedom of the individual and was never dependent, but now he is bankrupt, so he will have to tie up with his carefree gay life, exchanging them for the bonds of marriage. He knows that he will have to pay dearly for it - his own freedom. Therefore, right now he wants his last bachelor days to spend with friends as cheerful as possible.

Larissa

People for Paratov are only toys, and he treats them politely, yet one thing is clear: he is heartless and heartless. For poor Larissa, he became that ship, which is called "Flying Dutchman" - meeting with him promises to seamen only a certain death. In relation to the main heroine, Sergei Sergeevich behaves too lightly and ambiguously - it touched his ambitions and self-esteem. Learning that she is going to get married, he wants to immediately meet and talk with her, although at the same time clearly understands what will bring her only suffering. And then, in a conversation with Vasily, he admits that he is sincerely happy for Larissa.

Of course, the hero could not not appear in the house of the Ogudalovs, especially at the most crucial moment, before the wedding of Larissa. Paratov knows that he is always welcome guest, the whole city is already on his ears from his arrival. When talking to her tete-a-tete, he achieves her confession of love for him, because Larissa still does not understand that all this only flattered his vanity and nothing more.

Conclusion

This is the character of the product of Paratov. His characterization is far from perfect, but for Larissa he became the greatest passion, idol and god, to whom she is ready to pray day and night. For this she will pay with her life. Larissa herself created this beautiful ideal for herself, and her hero so skillfully wore his mask, that she had no desire to look for any vices in him. And Paratov once again had fun with an innocent victim. Larissa, at the very end, suddenly found out about his engagement, and after what was between them, he would not be able to marry her, because he was already chained in a chain of obligations to another woman ...
