What harm does the bug beetle bring?

Beetle-beetle (or beetle beetle) belongs to the family of coleoptera, which includes more than 25 thousand species of insects. Their development is associated with shrubs and trees of different breeds. Beetles unmistakably determine whether a particular tree is suitable for feeding their larvae.

Who is a beetle?

The adult is about 22 mm long. Females are able to lay up to a hundred eggs in the cracks of pine blanks: floors, rafters, doors. From the laid eggs, larvae are eaten to the light, eating a tree. The larva turns into a pupa, but this transformation lasts a very long time, sometimes up to 10 years. It grows to 30 mm and eats dry wood with its jaws with such a crunch that it can even be heard.

Beetle-barbel - danger to the house

After leaving the pupa, the beetle gnaws its way out. Such a hole with a trash is the only visible fact of the wrecking of this insect. If you try to stick a knife into the affected tree, then it will go in softly, like in oil.

Also, the beetle-beetle eats larvae of flowers, pistils, leaves, young bark. The greatest damage is caused by the larva of the beetle-beetle, which develops in many types of trees, destroying them. The larvae are enduring. If the tree withers and dies gradually, they can exist in such an environment for up to 45 years, and then turn into dwarf bugs. Outwardly, the barbel larva has a yellowish or white flattened body with a well developed chest and a retracted head. The larva ends with strong jaws of dark color, extended forward.

Beetle-barbel has a slender elongated trunk and unusual antennae, which in some species is even longer than the calf itself. At the base of the antennae are located kidney-shaped eyes.

Beetle-barbel, common in the forests of the Amazon, grows to a length of 180 mm, Brazilian species - up to 140 mm. The longest barbel of Russia lives in the Ussuri taiga (its length is 100 mm). Of course, there are small varieties. All species make masonry in the crevices of wood, in the bark or gnaw small caves.

Brown house barbel

There are varieties of barbel, which have become uncomfortable companions of people. For example, Hylotrupes bajulus is a small representative of the coleoptera group with small antennae and a rounded front back. Color they can have from black to brown and dirty-gray tones, with elytra in oblique bands.

The natural habitat for this species is not an option. They prefer to live next to a person in his wooden dwelling. They live in the floor, in upholstery, in partitions, in wooden shelves, in the legs of tables and beds, in the roof, etc. The females of a domestic barbel can lay more than 400 eggs deep in crevices or cracks in wooden objects. Passes a couple of weeks, and the light from eggs hatch voracious larvae, eating initially the outer layers. The appearance of wood dust is evidence of this. Furniture or construction in the near future will simply collapse.

Control measures

In the fight against this pest, chemicals are used: КЭ, МЭ, кинмикс. They are diluted in a 10 liter bucket of water. Take 2 ml decis, 90 g carbofos, 2 ml CE. The resulting solution should be sprayed twice with the pest habitat. A good effect is obtained from a single spray with a solution of CE and 2 ml of karate, diluted in 10 liters of water.
