We use in the construction of aerated concrete blocks: the dimensions and some disadvantages of the material

Today, the real boom is experiencing the production of foam concrete. In many ways, this is due to a sharp rise in the cost of traditional building materials like brick. Managers of construction companies vied about this material, advertising unprecedented technical characteristics. But are gasconcrete blocks good ? Their dimensions are positioned as a virtue, but is it really so smooth?

Recall that aerated concrete is obtained from a mixture of cement, aluminum powder, special additives and water, which during autoclaving get rid of excess moisture. The difference in different grades of this material is only in the types of foaming modifiers used. This is one of its main advantages: correctly selecting additives, it is possible to obtain aerated concrete blocks (the dimensions of which can also be individual) with strictly prescribed properties.

About the height of the erected buildings ...

If you take the popular brand D500, it is quite realistic to build buildings up to three floors. The carrying capacity of the material for this is quite sufficient. But there is one important nuance ... In order that nothing unforeseen happens, ideally it is necessary to thoroughly reinforce those places in which the slabs are supported by a wall of gas blocks. But most often the standard brickwork is used. What's so terrible? After all, we have already said that gas-concrete blocks (the dimensions of which allow such a thing to be done) are quite resistant to mechanical influences!

In fact, it turns out that such reinforcing elements are transformed into a kind of cold bridges, the heat through which is intensively leaving the house. In addition, for buildings in three floors it is better to use special reinforced grades of aerated concrete, the thermal conductivity of which reduces all their advantages to none. Do not forget also that this material has almost zero strength when subjected to mechanical impact on the bend.

The slightest miscalculation in the pouring of the foundation can turn into major problems. By the way, concrete blocks, which are larger than standard sizes, are the most problematic in this respect: they should be installed with jeweler precision, otherwise they will not be chipped.

That is why it is not worthwhile to say that when building such a house you can save a lot on building a foundation : just in this case you will have to fork out for a capital solid foundation. In the case of the slightest doubt in the properties of the soil will have to fill in the foundation slab, the cost of which can easily cross out all your savings. That's why you should not contact those construction companies that promise to make a house of foam concrete "fabulously cheap".

All aerated concrete blocks, the sizes (weight including) which hardly are less than or more standard values, in any case will give a draft, the consequences of which will repeatedly worsen the bad foundation. In such cases, simple cracks on the walls can not be escaped.

Thus, when choosing a building material, you should fully weigh the pros and cons. It is very important to acquire them only from those companies that have in practice proven their ability to make high-quality aerated concrete blocks. Dimensions (price, too), they can vary greatly depending on the manufacturer, but when buying, pay attention to the ideal geometric correctness of their shape. Do not take blocks, the cost of which is less than three thousand rubles.
