Watercolor pencils: draw your dreams!

Watercolor pencils are an amazing tool for creating true masterpieces! They are actively used by professional artists, but even small children paint them with great pleasure. The only difference is that in the first case pencils are bought in specialized art salons and cost a lot of money. For children's fun and for those who are just beginning to learn how to draw them, you can buy pencils cheaper.

Watercolor pencils have several advantages:

- In terms of brightness, they are much superior to ordinary color ones. All shades are "delicious", rich and bright, alive.

- Compared with watercolor, it's much easier to plan the composition of a picture and fix all the defects while still drawing on dry.

- Watercolor pencils can always be taken with you on the road, and wash out sketches already at home or on site, using a special water brush.

- Using a finely sharpened pencil, you can highlight any details in the watercolor drawing.

- When using watercolor pencils, the need to constantly use the palette disappears: there are sets with tens and even hundreds of ready-made shades. If you do not find the right color among them, you can easily get it by overlaying different colors on the paper - after blurring you will get an even color.

- If necessary, they can leave small notes, which in the finished illustration should not be.

Basically, watercolor pencils differ in softness. The softer the pencil, the easier it leaves a trace on the paper.

It is noteworthy that they can be used as a full replacement for conventional watercolor paints, and as color pencils. There are two basic techniques for drawing them. In the first case, after the sketch is ready, you need to blur the paint with a brush with water. In the second, you put a color on the previously moistened sheet.

As in the case of paints, drawing with watercolor pencils requires the use of special compacted paper. Best if it is not smooth, but rough. So the drawings with watercolor pencils will get the desired texture, they will be more clear and neat.

And here are a few tips for a note for those who want to borrow the experience of professional artists:

  • Do not wash the paint several times;
  • It is best to use soft brushes for blurring;
  • If you apply several layers of color, wait until the previous one has dried completely;
  • Do not blur all the colors at the same time - the picture will turn out very sloppy and dirty;
  • Remember that the drawings will be very prone to moisture, so store them better in a dry place and do not touch with wet hands.

There are several major manufacturers of watercolor pencils. Among them are Lear, Sonnet, Faber Castell, Koh-i-Noor. Pencils of this type are sold in wooden or plastic boxes, sometimes in branded steel cases. They can easily be transported and stored safely.

Well, are you ready to draw your fairy tale? Then forward to the store, behind the watercolor pencils!
