Vysotsky Igor - boxer: biography, photo, fights

Vysotsky Igor never in the ring achieved such successes as, for example, Jonas Chepulis and Lev Mukhin, who took silver Olympic medals in heavyweight. He was not glorified, as Nikolai Korolev and Andrei Abramov. But at one sounding of his name the heart of domestic boxing fans began to beat unevenly. Abroad, Vysotsky was well known and respected.

Who is Igor Yakovlevich Vysotsky and what is famous for?

This is a famous boxer of the seventies, champion of the Soviet Union in 1978. Why is he so famous? Unfortunately, Igor has never won gold medals in European, World and Olympic championships, but he is much more popular than some of his contemporaries-boxers who have achieved more successful results in the ring.

His name was made by two loud victories over the legendary Cuban boxer Theofilo Stevenson. Cuban previously was undefeated in the ring, was a three-time world champion and Olympics. These two victories sufficed Vysotsky to become famous for the rest of his life.

Childhood

Boxer Igor Vysotsky, whose biography is described in this article, was born on September 10, 1953 in the settlement of Yagodnoe in the Magadan Region. His father was the champion of his land in boxing. He also inspired his son to begin a sports career. As a child, Igor did not particularly like this sport and tried to avoid training in every possible way. However, the father found out about this and began to tightly control his son.

Igor obeyed the will of his father and began to seriously train. He himself did not notice how he began to like training and began to taste. Coming home, the boy continued to work on himself with the help of his father. The latter forced his son with a sledge hammer to drive the stumps from the trees into the ground. Thus, the force of blows of the future boxer was worked out.

Debut

Vysotsky Igor made his big debut when he turned eighteen. He took part in the junior championship, which was held in Alma-Ata in the seventy-first year. The debut was successful, Vysotsky was able to beat on the points of Vladimir Volkov, who was the current champion of the country. After this victory, Igor began to invite to the training camp.

Trainer

Igor Vysotsky his sports career owes not only to his father, but also to coach Evgeny Zhiltsov. The career of the boxer began very successfully. In 1971, he took third place at the youth championship of the Soviet Union, in 1972 - the second, and in 1973 he already received a gold medal. To fight it prepared a sensitive and experienced mentor Zhiltsov, who taught Igor a lot.

Championship in Havana

By the time Cuban Stephenson became the new world star of boxing. In the summer of 1973, Vysotsky's first meeting with this boxer took place in the capital of Cuba . This tournament was dedicated to the memory of the Cuban revolutionary Cardova Cardina. Participation in it took the strongest world boxers and the entire national team of Cuba.

Teofilo Stevenson at that time was the leading athlete. At the Olympic Games in 1972 he managed to take the gold, and he won all the victories by knockout. He also got the Val Barecra cup (handed to the most technical boxer). Stevenson was the first heavyweight in the history of the Olympic Games to receive this cup.

The final

In the final of the tournament Vysotsky Igor and Teofilo met. The match was supposed to be exciting. Igor did not attack already in the first round. And I decided to take a closer look at my opponent. Vysotsky in his manner preferred to work as a corps, making fraudulent moves. Its main advantage was the same technique of blows of both hands at a sufficiently low (for the heavyweight boxer) growth - one hundred and eighty-three centimeters.

Stevenson was superior to his opponent at the same time and weight and height. He, like all Cubans, successfully combined the techniques of the Soviet boxing school with the aggressiveness and manner of American punches.

Stevenson did not expect that the Soviet athlete, after "intelligence", rushes into a tough fight. The Cuban thought that Vysotsky would not force events, fearing such an outstanding opponent. Igor also carried out quick jerks, dived to the enemy under the hull and struck a clear series of blows. The meeting ended with the fact that Igor Vysotsky, whose photo you can see in this article, won on points.

Later, he recalled that the Cuban audience was in an indescribable ecstasy from this fight. They brought their fingers to their lips and loudly smacked, showing how they were impressed by this spectacle. And Igor after the fight was "redeemed" in the warm applause of the local audience.

Second victory

The second battle between these athletes took place at an international tournament in Minsk in three years. This time, Igor was able to defeat the Cuban already in the third round, putting him to the ground by knockout. Before that, Vysotsky twice again sent the opponent in a knockdown. Igor's contemporaries say that after this victory he became a big sensation and a nightmare for all Cubans. This was the first and only knockout in the life of Stevenson. And he suffered it from a Soviet athlete.

Further career

In 1975, at another regular meeting of boxers of the Soviet Union and the United States, Vysotsky was able to defeat the leader of rivals - Jimmy Clark. The latter hoped for an easy victory, but the Soviet boxer caught him by a side blow on the counter and the American hung on the ropes. Igor met with many overseas athletes, and all of them could not stand the onslaught of the Soviet athlete.

In the late seventies, the leadership of one of the American boxing federations offered a million dollars to Igor if he moved to the profession and would perform in the States. Specialists predicted to him many victories in the professional ring. But the State Committee did not let him go abroad. Still, the "cold" war continued.

Unfortunately, Vysotsky Igor was traumatized several times. He was literally pursued by the cutting of his eyebrows. For example, in 1974, at home championships, he lost to Evgeny Gorstkov precisely because of such a trauma.

Completion of career

1978 was to be the most successful for the boxer. He managed to win the championship of the Soviet Union, beating Mikhail Subbotin in the finals. Vysotsky was predicted a triumph in the world championship, but he unexpectedly lost to the French athlete. At the Moscow Olympics in 1980 he could not visit. And at the home championship of this year he lost to Evgeny Gorstkov.

At the age of twenty-seven, Vysotsky Igor decided to leave his sports career. He was tired, made regular battles and injuries, ten years in the national team of the Union - not too little.

However, boxing for this outstanding athlete became a matter of all life. In Mytishchi in 1999 the Vysotsky Club was established. People from all ages are trained there, and all classes are free for children and teenagers. Igor Vysotsky, whose fights have gone down in history, is currently the vice-president of the Boxing Federation of the Moscow Region.

Igor often remembers his "fighting" past and always notes that in the ring the main thing is not only technically the right way to hold a meeting, but also a psychological attitude. A powerful fighting spirit and a thirst for victory are the main character traits that Igor Vysotsky is proud of. The Boxer was never afraid of anyone in the ring and this earned him great respect from his fans. He is also a deeply religious person.

Now Igor Vysotsky is working in his club, the boxer is engaged in the education of youth. In his opinion, the future of the country is much more important than financial profit. Therefore, he trains children for free.

Pupil of his club boxer drove to the Kulikovo field, to the relics of Sergius of Radonezh. There they made friends with the guys from the military-patriotic club "Peresvet". Now both clubs meet regularly and arrange sparring. Vysotsky's children are mainly engaged in disadvantaged and needy families. He does not want to buy gloves, a T-shirt and other equipment for training for his pupils. By these actions, he has earned great respect from all who have ever met him and are familiar with his current activities.

There is a Vysotsky club branch in Lunevo, where the sports master Andrei Akayev also trains children free of charge. Vysotsky was able to knock out a salary for him in the sports committee, so that he engaged in low-income children, educating future athletes from them. In Lunevo, half the population can not find a job, and young people use alcohol and drugs from a young age. The boxing club is practically the only way for these children to get out of the negative atmosphere and grow up to be decent people. Maybe one of them in the future will become an outstanding champion.
