Volgograd region: minerals, deposits

Volgograd Region is rich in minerals. This Russian region has a great potential for the development of the mineral resource base, a large number of diverse natural resources. The main minerals that are stored in the bowels are gas, oil, magnesium and potassium salts, raw materials for the metallurgical industry.

Hydrocarbons

Hydrocarbons in large quantities are on the territory of the Volgograd region. Minerals are found in areas with high development of oil resources.

A total of 93 deposits have been discovered in the region, 63 of which are currently under development. Annually the region receives about three and a half million tons of oil.

Experts estimate that about two-thirds of all hydrocarbon reserves fall on new deposits. Almost all oil in the region is extracted by the most economical way - fountain.

Peat

The extraction of minerals in the Volgograd region is conducted throughout the region. In the north-west, large peat deposits were discovered: mainly in the Alekseevsky, Mikhailovsky, and Uryupinsk districts. The deposits of peat are located near floodplains of rivers.

The total number of such deposits is 16. In 12 (according to forecasts), peat may be in promising developments. The most probable and large-scale deposit is called Tryasinovskie Olkhi. It is located a few kilometers from the town of Serafimovich.

Peat is actively used in industry in the production of organic, as well as organomineralic fertilizers. It is an indispensable component in agriculture, also used as litter on farms and in cowsheds, well suited for heating dwellings and outbuildings.

Non-metallic mineral resources

In order to understand in detail what minerals are mined in the Volgograd region, it is enough to read this article carefully. Actively develop the extraction of raw materials for the production of building materials. Especially often in this Russian region there are carbonate rocks. With their help you can get lime, concrete or building crushed stone.

The relief and minerals in the Volgograd region have a large amount of sand. And it, in turn, is indispensable in the industrial production of silicate bricks, as well as many building mixtures and solutions. Here, there is also clay, which is needed to make a brick made of ceramics.

Nonmetallic minerals mined in the Volgograd region occupy more than 50 only explored deposits. However, only 5 of them are used. The rest are only licensed or ready to be developed.

The largest of these deposits are located within the regional center itself, as well as in the Mykolaiv and Uryupinsk regions. Perhaps the most significant reserves are located in Sredneahtubinskom and Svetloyar municipalities. Thanks to a large amount of raw materials, the production of ceramic bricks is developing. On the territory of the region there are eight factories.

Expanded clay

Claydite is also very common in the Volgograd region. Mineral is used as a filler in reinforced concrete products, as well as heat insulation in various backfill.

A lot of clay is due to a large number of clay rocks, they are the raw materials for its production. Claydite raw materials are extracted at ten fields. The total volume of the estimated reserves is approximately 37 thousand cubic meters.

Those deposits that are functioning today are ready to provide the region with this raw material for the next quarter century. In the future, it is possible to open new deposits. At least, for this there are all the prerequisites.

Crushed stone

Sandstones and limestones are used as natural stone materials in the Volgograd region. Mineral resources of this class are used for obtaining building crushed stone and quarry stone.

Particularly strong crushed stone is needed in the production of concrete. Crushed rock is carried from almost 20 prospected quarries. In total, such deposits, where the amount of minerals is estimated on an industrial scale, is more than 100. Only about half of them have been explored. Of these, two-thirds are sandstones, the rest for carbonate rocks. According to experts, these fields contain more than half a million cubic meters of raw materials. Most of them in the Zhirnovsky, Klet and Frolov municipalities. This is where the main prey is conducted.

Carbonate-cement raw materials

Talking about what kind of minerals in the Volgograd region, we can not fail to mention carbonate-cement raw materials.

The base for its production is located in four deposits specializing in limestone, another 12 are deposits of chalk. Explored reserves in only two districts of the Volgograd region (Frolovsky and Ilovlinsky) are estimated at 90 million tons. Of course, there are more such deposits. Most of them are only to be scouted.

Some geologists even argue that the Volgograd region has unlimited resources in terms of obtaining carbonate-cement raw materials. So the production of lime here will continue to develop.

Cement

The Volgograd region is one of the Russian regions where the largest amount of cement is produced. At the same time, the bulk of this building material is concentrated in one plant, which is located in Mikhailovka. To obtain cement, we need, first of all, such minerals as loam and chalk. They are brought from the Sebryakovsky deposit.

At the same time there are plenty of stocks of cement raw materials in the region. The bill goes to thousands of millions of tons, of which almost 90% are located at the Sebryakovsky deposit.

Silicic raw materials are also in great demand, they are called as flasks. It is received in the Olkhovysky, Kamyshinsky and Dubovsky districts in several fields. The total reserves of this fossil are about five and a half million cubic meters, and there are also undiscovered careers.

It is necessary to mention and about deposits of bentonite clays.

Useful mineral water

At present there are 6 plots in the Volgograd region, on which mineral waters with balneological significance are distributed. That is, it is reliably established that they are curative, have curative or prophylactic properties.

In the region there are two types of mineral wells: hydrogen sulphide and chloride-sulfate.

Hydrogen sulfide mineral springs are mainly based in walking distance from the sanatorium "Kachalinsky", which is located in the Ilovlinsky district. The health resort regularly attracts tourists from all over the region and even from neighboring regions.

Mineral wells of the second type (chloride-sulfate) are explored on five underground medical sources: Gornopolyansky, Ermanovsky, Dubovsky, Sebryakovsky and Ergeninsky.

The latter has been known for about 200 years. In its vicinity, one of the first mineral resorts in Russia was organized. And it was the water from the Ergenin source that was first bottled in our country. It is located in the Kirov district of the Volgograd region, near the village of Veselaya Balka.

Thus, we can be sure that the Volgograd region is rich in minerals. They are not enough for another decade.
