Uriah Heep: discography of rock band
Great Britain - the birthplace of many famous musical bands performing heavy rock. One such group is Uriah Heep. The discography of this group can impress any fan of classical rock.
The beginning of the way
The group was formed in the distant 1969 in the heart of England, in its capital. Initially, the musicians called their band Spice, but after a while they changed their name to Uriah Heep, borrowing it from Charles Dickens, or rather from his book "David Copperfield" (in the translation of the book into Russian, one of the characters is Uriah Gip). Then the band's first line-up was formed, and it was at this time that producer D. Bron invited the virtuoso keyboard player Ken Hensley to join the Spices.
Two years later the musicians became world famous. Many critics, and even the fans believe that it was the work of 1971-1973 that most clearly expresses the essence of Uriah Heep. Discography of those years includes such wonderful albums as Demons and Wizards, Look at Yourself, The Magician's Birthday. Moreover, singles from these albums are till now considered as a classic of heavy rock.
Success in creativity
Uriah Heep (the discography of the group is big enough) in its arsenal has as many as twelve albums, which in due time were part of the UK Albums Chart. In 1975, the musicians released the single "Return to Fantasy", which had a stunning and rather lasting success. Music Uriah Heep from the beginning of the seventies was in demand not only in the UK - in the United States 15 albums released by rockers, entered the Billboard-200, and four songs were on the Billboard-100 list. In Germany, the single "Lady in Black" in the mid-seventies was the first line of the charts for thirteen weeks, and the rest of the songs were also popular there. It can be safely said that the 70s were very fruitful for Uriah Heep: only over the years they were able to sell more than 30 000 000 of their albums!
Style of the legendary group
For true connoisseurs of hard rock it will not be difficult to distinguish one rock band from another. Even not by the voice of the vocalist, but by the style of performance it's easy enough to distinguish, for example, Deep Purple from Led Zeppelin. The same can be said about the group Uriah Heep, the discography of which is saturated with all sorts of elements of different directions of music. No, this is the same hard rock, but with particles of jazz-rock, art-rock, heavy metal. Well, the most recognizable style of this team can, perhaps, be called the delightful backing vocals. On the vocalist David Byron in general, you can not even say. His manner of singing songs, the presence of a certain drama in his voice will not leave indifferent even those who are far from this musical direction. Some critics say that the scenic experiments of these rockers were even the basis for the same experiments of such a famous rock band as Queen.
Works of Uriah Heep
The participants of the group did a lot of work. For its long age the band has created more than twenty studio albums, not to mention concert records and compilations. Many other musical groups have repeatedly performed cover versions of Uriah Heep. It should be noted that the group remained committed to its style throughout virtually all of its activities. Released in 2008, the album called Wake The Sleeper is noted by critics as retaining the sound of the rock band. Subsequent work also did not disappoint the expectations of fans: they can hear the inimitable voice of David Byron, and remarkable virtuosic performances of other participants. And those who understand English will be interested in texts filled with meaning.
About Uriah Heep, whose albums are still very popular, about its members and creativity, they can be told about each of their singles for a long time, but to feel their game and then, without exaggeration, the great thing these musicians created, it's better to listen their songs. One thing is certain: the Uriah Heep group rightfully takes the right place among such classic hard rock sharks as Pink Floyd, Nazareth, Rolling Stones and many others.
