Treatment of the frontitis

Inflammatory process, affecting the mucous membrane of the frontal sinus, is called "frontal". It occurs, as a rule, when a virus or bacterial infection penetrates.

Through the frontal-nasal canal, the frontal sinuses communicate with the nasal canal into which the infection penetrates. Typically, this occurs at a time when the immune system is weakened, against the background of influenza, ARVI, rhinitis, scarlet fever and other diseases. In addition, infection can occur through the blood, also causing inflammation of the frontal sinuses.

To the causes of the development of the disease should be attributed and damage (injury) to the area of the nose. As a rule, they arise in professional athletes.

Among the factors predisposing to the development of the frontitis, it is necessary to call allergic rhinitis (rhinitis), congenital defects in the development of nasal cavity structures , proliferation of polyposic character in the nasal passages. Another reason is the incorrect process of blowing out (the cleansing of the nasal passages must be performed in turn, first holding one nostril and then the second one).

Symptoms of the frontitis may differ depending on the nature of the course of the disease.

Thus, an acute condition is accompanied by an increase in temperature to 38-39 degrees, which extends pain in the eye sockets and forehead. Soreness can increase with pressure and inclination of the head, and also give to the occipital and temporal part. After blowing out, the headache may subside. For acute frontitis, one-sided disorder of nasal breathing, a violation of the sense of smell, may increase the sensitivity of the eyes to light. Together with this, the skin in the corners of the eyes and above the sinuses swells and turns red. In addition, there is weakness, lethargy.

The chronic frontitis manifests itself in almost the same way as the acute one. However, the difference is in the severity of the symptoms. So, the pain is more intense, it can be oppressive or aching. A distinctive feature of the chronic form is hypertrophy of the mucosa in the nasal passage in the middle. In this area, the maxillary cavity, the frontal sinus, and the anterior cells in the labyrinth of the latticed bone are connected . In addition, with chronic frontal polyps are formed in the nasal cavity, pus with an unpleasant smell is almost always released.

In the event that the acute period lasts more than one and a half months, the disease becomes chronic. This is due to a persistent impairment of patency in the frontal-nasal canal.

Treatment of the frontitis, both acute and chronic, begins with the use of conservative methods. Therapy is performed in a specialized hospital (ENT-hospital).

Treatment of the frontitis using conservative methods is aimed at achieving an unimpeded outflow of the contents of the nasal sinuses. For these purposes, vasoconstrictive drugs are used. Drugs are buried in the nose. In addition, treatment of the frontitis involves the use of antibiotics with a wide range of effects, as well as warming up. In the absence of therapeutic effect from the above-mentioned activities, prescribe potent drugs, electrophoresis, laser procedures, hormones, "cuckoo" rinsing.

If none of the conservative methods yielded a result, the treatment of the frontitis is performed surgically. Earlier, the operation was trepanopuncture. In modern medicine more often resort to more sparing methods, in particular, puncture with a needle Kasirsky.

Treatment of the frontitis at home is most efficiently performed with the help of inhalations.

For this, it is recommended to use boiled potatoes (in a uniform). After cooking, the water should be drained and the tubers slightly mashed. Covered with a towel, you should breathe over the steam. Inhalations are recommended for seven to ten days after a day.

Procedures can be carried out with the use of propolis tincture. For this, half a spoonful (tea) of the drug is poured into boiling water.

When carrying out inhalations should preferably breathe through the nose.
