The writer is ... The meaning of the word

The dictionary of the great and Russian is rich in various terms and names of people's professions. One of them is a writer. This word, like some other concepts, has several meanings in its application. We will try to tell about them in this material. We hope that the information will be useful and accessible.

The writer is the writer

According to the dictionaries of Ozhegov, Ushakov, Efremova, the first (and main) meaning of the word is the writer. That is, this is the person for whom literary work is a true profession. And we do not mean a narrow, but a broader and larger specialization. In this context, a writer can be called a poet (Pushkin, Yesenin), and a prose writer (Tolstoy, Chekhov), and a songwriter (Vysotsky, Okudzhava), and even a publicist or critic (Belinsky).

Here the writer is a generalizing concept, characterizing, rather, the professionalism of a certain person. It is associated with literature and art. And what literary man, what and when he wrote, does not have fundamental values. By the way, there is also an ironic meaning when the given word is pronounced in quotation marks, with a certain amount of irony in relation to a person who considers himself a "great" writer, but in reality he is an ordinary graphomaniac. But with respect to talent, this concept is used as confirmation (and recognition) of professionalism and the importance of literary works.

Specialist in the field of science

The second meaning of the concept, which is more conversational in nature, is a specialist (or teacher), a scientific worker in the field of literary theory. This person can work at the department, be a professor or an assistant professor, write scientific works on literary topics, studying the work of a certain writer or the process as a whole.

School teacher in literature

And one more meaning: a writer is a school teacher in literature. We all know how important it is to teach native literature in high school. It educates in a person from the youngest nails a sense of pride for their native land, the feeling of a small and great homeland, develops literary tastes in various directions, forcing them to think in a broader manner, and teaches them to express their thoughts competently.

From the activities of the school teacher, his personality and preparedness on the subject, much depends on the upbringing of the child, and this fact is recognized today by the majority of pedagogical systems. Important here are the ethical and psychological moments in the preparation of a small man for adulthood and a correct understanding of society and spirituality.
