The Titanic's downfall: the events and secrets of that night

Probably, there is not a single person who does not know that in the beginning of the 20th century in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean the death of the Titanic occurred. Children's lament, screams, hundreds of distraught people ... Until now, there are many different myths and conjectures that are associated with those tragic events.

A bit of history

April 10, 1912 in the port of Southampton (England), a large number of people gathered to see how the Titanic liner was sailing. On its board were two thousand lucky passengers, who set out on a maritime romantic trip across the waters of the Atlantic. There were magnates, millionaires, famous people, as well as ordinary passengers who could not afford to buy a first class ticket. The three-screw "Titanic" was of a solid size: its height was like an eleven-story house, and its width was like four quarters. Thanks to the equipment and steam four-cylinder machines, at full speed the liner could go at a speed of 25 knots. Thanks to the double bottom and waterproof bulkheads, it was declared as unsinkable.

Events of the fateful night

The date of the death of the "Titanic" - the night of 15.04.1912. It was the fourth day of the trip. It was then that the radio operators of the liner began to receive one after the other radiograms from nearby vessels that there were icebergs nearby. 160 minutes before the death of the Titanic, F. Fleet noticed at the rate a dark large object, which was immediately notified to the captain. Despite the attempts made to get away from the collision with the ice block, she broke the hull of the ship deep under the waters by a third of its length. The water began to fill the decks. Interestingly, but the liner was sailing at such a speed that from the guests no one understood at once what had happened. Then SOS signal was sent to the ships located near the ship. Already in the course of time, the British Navy archives were able to confirm that the boats on the liner were half as many as needed.

The crew ordered that at the time when the Titanic was killed, first it was necessary to save the passengers of the first class. One of the first in the boat village director of the company, which belonged to the ship. The lower deck, which housed 1500 people, was closed. This was done to prevent passengers from entering the boats. The tragedy is still considered the greatest calamity in peacetime. The circumstances with which the death of 1,500 people are connected, is still shrouded in mystery.

Mysteries with which the death of the Titanic is connected

If the fact that the meeting with the iceberg really was, there is no doubt, then everything else that is happening on board and in the waters can still not be exactly explained. For example, a few weeks before the tragic events, Atlantis was published (G. Hauptan's novel). Surprisingly, the events taking place in the book in all details coincided with what was happening on board the liner. Coincidence?

Another mystery of the destruction of the Titanic was discovered in the spring of 1996, when the British expedition explored the hull of the ship with a powerful, unique technique for a month. It received amazing data: at the level below the waterline there are six holes, which occupy an area of not more than 5 meters. If an iceberg collided with a liner, there would be a huge hole in the hull of at least 30 meters.

Another mystery is connected with a mysterious object. During the tragedy, another ship with lights extinguished floated next to the liner. For a long time it was assumed that it was the "Californian". The captain of the ship was accused of refusing assistance to the perishing. And only after 50 years, scientists were able to prove that it was another marine facility, possibly Samson, which was returning from poaching to Norway.

Interesting facts related to the behavior of individual people, for example, why did not float on the ship its owner, although always participated in the first sailing of its ships. Why did not the unique collection of paintings that was to be delivered to another place be loaded aboard?

Many other circumstances remain unsolved. It is possible that further expeditions will open the veil of secrecy.
